Doom diver catapult or Cogfort
I was looking at getting a doom diver catapult for my Gitz, but then the whole Cogfort thing popped up. It's obviously going to cost more in money and points, but which would you choose and why?

I got into Warcry a couple of years ago when I joined a local wargaming club to play DnD. From there, I got into Spearhead because I already have some models and just need a few more, right? Unfortunately, there's not really much animo anymore for those two games in my club anymore so I'll be putting on my big boy pants and start with AoS.
I've decided on my army (Gloomspite Gitz, despite the current state of the Meta) and read the AoS rules. Playing Spearhead helped in that regard. I've also watched some YT vids on the rules and battle reports. But nothing beats playing to learn, right?
What's the most sensible approach to learn to play the game? Start with 1000/1250 points armies? What about battle tactics, magic, command points: don't play these at first? I'd rather build a solid foundation before going all-out.
Thanks in advance for your insights.
I want to start playing age of Sigmar, coming from Warcry en Spearhead. Gobbo's make me smile, so I started collecting Gloomspite Gitz despite the state of the current meta. I bought the Bad Moon Madmob spearhead en recently picked up the Gitmob Army box on the cheap. Also, there's some good bargains on Vinted with Gitz still on sprue through the Stormbringer (?) magazine they have in France.
I currently have the following units:
A few Underwords warbands, now Legends:
Other than the Doom Diver Catapult, any other units I need to be on the lookout for?
My first games will probably be in the 1000-1500 points range to learn the game mechanics, before going for the full 2000 points. What are some fun army lists I can make?
