Can someone ELI5 the different Helix models?

I'm looking to buy a good modeller and FR/FR but I am getting lost in the sauce with all the different versions of the Helix stuff compared to other brands.

I'm a pretty old school player that's always just used amps, pedalboards and cabs so I am learning a lot of new things ever since my son introduced me to Amplitube last year.

I play a wide range of stuff from 70's rock and metal all the way through to modern pop so I'd like it to be as versatile as possible.

I've also noticed only a few models have an expression pedal - do these still work ok if you stick a wah pedal in front of them or is there a compatible addon expression pedal you can buy?

Appreciate any help you can give me.

NGD - SG Special Ebony

Two firsts for me with this one!

My first SG and also my first guitar for P90s.

Like a lot of guys my age, Slash had an oversized effect on my guitar choices and I've always been a Les Paul guy.

People talk about the "trinity" of a Les Paul, Strat and a Tele but I'm now of an opinion that a guitar with P90s is criminally absent from 'conventional wisdom' as with just a little bit of dialling on my amp I'm sounding like I could slot into a Green Day cover band with ease.

I've only had the guitar for 24 hours but the weight at only a touch over 6lb will definitely take getting used to as I'm used to much chunkier and hefty guitars.

It's also really thin I'm almost afraid I'll snap it lol.

Also it's got the skinniest neck of any guitar I own but I'm finding that I quite enjoy that, plus it has really nice access to the 22nd fret compared to a LP.

First impressions are definitely favourable and I wish I'd tried an SG years ago.

It was also quite a mission to get hold of. There are no Gibson dealers here in Northern Ireland so I ordered it on the Andertons website in March as it was a really good price but they kept delaying my order and the last email I got on Monday said there'd be a delay until August 31st!

Told them to cancel it Monday, ordered it Tuesday from Guitar Guitar and it arrived Wednesday. £50 more than the Andertons price but £1350 for a brand new Gibson is still worth the money imo.

Did SoD really go too far with class changes? Consider this.

Hi All,

I know there has been a lot of discussion about both SoD, the new class abilities they added and how it pertains to Classic Plus.

And a thing I see people say a lot is that SoD went too far with the class changes or they 'just want light balancing touches', or they point to TBC and say 'just do that and it will all somehow work out'.

I personally don't agree, but it's more than just vibes. In fact it's something pretty fundamental, let me explain.

One thing that I have not seen properly discussed is that Season of Discovery did not mess with or change warrior rage generation.

I cannot stress this enough. Warrior rage generation was not touched because they did not want any changes to bleed over into the era servers due to them running on the same game client.

In fact, it was a key point on the initial Blizzcon presentation for SoD that they would bring everyone up to warrior's power level in PVE.

Here is the DPS ranking for SoD on May 13th 2025. For reference, Scarlet Enclave was released April 10th so this is week 5. More Ashbringers were getting into people's hands and they were starting to get access to the 4 and 6 pc set bonuses from the SE tier gear:

https://www.wowhead.com/classic/news/fury-warrior-soars-to-the-top-season-of-discovery-scarlet-enclave-dps-rankings-376849

If you look at the Overall Statistics graph that shows the bars with the little lines sticking out of them, that gives you the ballpark average of how classes were doing as opposed to just the top 5%

See how close most of those specs are? About 15% variance between top and bottom, and yes, Fury warriors (sorry Arms bros) are still damn strong.

Now compare that to the Era or 2019 classic dps rankings where warriors in Naxx gear are doing for example; 2-3x the damage of Hunters.

This is why I don't understand why some people are saying that SoD 'went too far'. Looking at the numbers I heavily disagree.

What this graph in fact shows:

SOD WENT JUST FAR ENOUGH TO MAKE EVERYONE COMPETE IN THE SAME BALLPARK AS WARRIORS.

Sorry for shouting. But I think my point is validated by the stats.

I have questions then, for the people that still think that SoD went too far:

What's the solution to this then?

If we get minimal class balancing, won't we just end up in a place where warriors are once again the best DPS class and raids are just stacks of warriors and warrior cheerleaders?

Do you think C+ should nerf warriors? I'm not a fan of this myself, it would feel icky. Warrior players, please don't think I'm calling you out, you just play the game Blizzard gives you after all.

Is raid DPS balancing important to you? If not, why not?

Do you think having actual tier gear with stats and set bonuses for the likes of Shadow Priests and Feral Druids would be enough?

Wouldn't that mean that DPS warriors would also get a tier set? It's not like Warlocks and Hunters lack DPS tier gear, yet they still can't come close to Warrior numbers.

In conclusion, I don't think in 2026 that people will be happy to play a new version of WoW where they are expected to be underpowered just because they prefer the class fantasy of a class that isn't Warrior.

And I don't see how we avoid that without accepting that more than light touch class balance has to happen.

TLDR: Warriors too good in Classic Plus unless something done about it, but we still love you Warrior bros.
