- Victims develop persistent coughing fits as microscopic spores colonize the throat.
- Their color-changing scales flicker uncontrollably, unable to maintain camouflage.
- Increased sensitivity to sunlight and loud sounds.
Biological Notes
Unlike every other tribal strain, this infection doesn’t immediately attack muscles.
Instead, it colonizes the nervous system first.
Tiny fungal filaments grow around nerves, slowly replacing damaged tissue while secretly extending deeper into the brain.
The host remains fully aware.

- The mouth fills with thin tendrils replacing normal saliva.
- Small fungal nodules emerge around the jawline and neck.
- Venom glands begin failing, replaced by sacs producing infectious fungal mucus.
Notes
Dissections reveal fungal threads wrapped around nearly every major nerve.
Removing them instantly kills the patient.
The fungus has become part of the body.

Description
The fungus has reached the brain.
Individual thought rapidly deteriorates.
The infected now behave as highly aggressive predators.
Physical Appearance
- Large fungal plates erupt from the face and neck.
- Eyes become partially hidden beneath hardened fungal growth.
- Color-changing scales permanently freeze into dull greens and browns.
- Wings develop tears filled with pale fungal membranes.
Behavior
Unlike normal infected, Bloom Runners don’t roar.
Instead they produce rapid clicking noises by snapping fungal growths inside their throats.
These clicks travel surprising distances through the rainforest.
Other infected immediately begin moving toward the sound.
Hunting:
Bloom Runners prefer ambush.
They remain perfectly still for hours before exploding into violent motion once prey approaches.

STAGE 4 — Canopy Stalker
Months 2–4
Condition
Vision is almost completely lost.
Large fungal plates have consumed the eyes and much of the face.
Instead of seeing, they detect vibrations through fungal tendrils extending into nearby trees.
Appearance:
- Head almost entirely covered in thick fungal armor.
- Mouth split open by expanding fungal growth.
- Long tendrils trail behind wings and tail.
- Thick cords connect briefly to trees whenever they pause.
Behavior:
Canopy Stalkers rarely travel far.
Instead they patrol sections of forest connected to the fungal network.
When prey enters their territory—
every infected nearby instantly knows.
Communication:
The fungus transmits signals through underground roots and interconnected tendrils.
An attack on one infected may alert dozens hidden throughout the rainforest.
Scouts describe it as:
“The forest tells them where you are.”

STAGE 5 — The Bloom Heart
Timeframe: Four months or longer
Condition
The dragon has ceased being an individual organism.
It has become the central node of an enormous fungal colony.
Appearance:
Its body is fused into massive tree roots and fungal towers.
Only fragments of the original RainWing remain visible:
- one wing
- a horn
- part of a jaw
- faded scales beneath layers of fungal growth
Everything else has become fungus.
Function:
The Bloom Heart continuously grows beneath the rainforest.
Miles of fungal cords connect:
- infected RainWings
- dead hosts
- trees
- vines
- fallen logs
Every part of the forest becomes one enormous organism.
Spores:
Instead of releasing spores randomly—
the Bloom Heart waits.
When healthy dragons enter nearby…
Entire sections of jungle erupt with airborne fungal clouds.
Intelligence:
The Bloom Heart no longer thinks like a dragon.
It thinks like a colony.
It sacrifices individual infected freely to trap prey.
It learns patrol routes.
It remembers hiding places.
It slowly expands deeper into the rainforest.

SPECIAL BEHAVIOR — THE MYCELIAL NETWORK
Researchers initially believed infected RainWings communicated through sound.
They were wrong.
Every infected is physically connected through microscopic fungal threads woven beneath the soil.
Information travels almost instantly.
If one infected spots prey…
Others several kilometers away immediately begin converging.
Destroying individual infected accomplishes little.
Destroying the network is another matter entirely.

CONTAINMENT DIRECTIVE
Standard fire attacks are discouraged.
Burning fungal masses release enormous quantities of infectious spores into rising smoke.
Recommended procedure:
- Isolate the area.
- Destroy fungal growths with concentrated heat or controlled magical freezing.
- Burn only after all visible fungal tissue has been neutralized.
- Monitor the site for weeks, as dormant fungal cords can survive underground and regenerate if left unchecked.

She is a race called Atherwings, they are a type of dragon race that was the first race made by Elderrok and was given powers that overpowers the Archons abilities because they helped create the Eldridge Multiverse.
After the multiverse was created, Elder let them roam the multiverse to settle down in any dimension they chose and they grew into a powerful empire that protected the multiverse from threats. They hid after they found out that they were going to be era from the multiverse by Elder but he made them too powerful.
They can change into any form they desire but they have three main forms:
—Their main dragon form
—Eldridge/Goddess form
—Human/wear-dragon form.

Sunny’s Journal, the start of the infection
Day..1 [5,012 AS]||”….Naïve….”
I was organizing my shelves with my medical stuff, I wasn’t aware of what had happened in the Ice Kingdom after Darkstalker came back from being asleep for…..2,000 years… It’s also still crazy that I’m a descendant of him… I guess that Stonemover or Thorn..my parents…never looked into our family tree lately.
”He’s my family too….” Is what lingered in my head after he healed my father. Stonemover is also still getting used to having “is claws back” from what he said. The reunion with my mother was scary until my dad said this:
”Thorn! I owe you an apology, love…. I’m sorry I left, I’m sorry I didn’t come back, and I’m sorry that you thought I had abandoned you…. I was afraid of my powers.. After the legend of Darkstalker killing his own father and putting fear into his family, I didn’t want that for you and Beetle….”
Beetle, though my name I was given by the Talons of Peace, they nickname me Beetle, since it was my planned name for when I hatched.
“I love you, deeply, more than you think. It hurt me to leave but you have to know, I was protecting you and our daughter.”
”It’s ok if you never forgive me….but i still love you…Thorn, I always will….”
I wasn’t trying to eave drop but I was passing by his room and overheard everything. I peaked through the door and noticed my mother’s face light up. Then she threw her arms around Stonemover and kissed him, saying this through half tears:
”Oh, Stonemover…. Of course I forgive you! You and Beetle were the best things that ever happened to me… And I get it, dear… I know a sandwing who has animus and she too is afraid of her own might…. but now that I know that those rumors about the animus controlling the user to do evil was wrong, I forgive you. Thank you for coming home….“
“you will forever be my love, Stonemover….and my king….”
They embraced each other for the next few minutes before I walked in, startling them. Heh…I said sorry but their reactions were funny. After that, we spent the rest of the evening looking at our family tree which I had strangely found in a hidden corner of Thorns home, she didn’t know, either did dad but mother assumed that a family member long before us placed it there. Turns out I also have distant icewing genes due to seeing that I’m also related to Winter and his sister and brother.
I told Winter this and he didn’t believe me at first until I showed him the chart that Thorn let me keep.
”so…..were distant cousins?” He asked, not annoyed. “Yeah! And we’re both royal now.” I responded, happy that I found more of my family.
Week..2, Day 5. [5,012 AS]||”…..Threat…..”
Yesterday got me concerned, an Icewing student named Frostveil came to Hailstorm who now leads the security along with Clay at the Academy. He looked like he’d seen a ghost… he had told Hailstorm and Winter about the pandemic that’s been plaguing the kingdom for weeks now… He also said this started just after Darkstalker’s awakening. Now he didn’t say that specifically but I clicked it in by him saying the first soldiers of Icewings, including Queen Snowfall, who had gotten worse since then.
Darkstalker awoke just two days ago, which was the same day that Frost said Icewings have been getting sick. Which leads me to believe that Darkstalker curse after finding out what Diamond did to his mother while he was asleep. I tried keeping my mind that all of Solterra might be in danger again…..
Later that evening, Frostveil came to me about potentially teaming up with him on researching this Plague, which I agreed to. We spent all night showing each other our notes, writing the symptoms of the sickness…
[SIDE NOTE FROM 5,014 AS]— “This was before it had mutated and began to reanimate its hosts and jumping species.”
Throughout the night, we became close friends..
[Here were our notes] —
-hour 1: Fever, headaches, nausea, slight shiver, colder body temperature than normal.
-hour 2: coughing, aggressive respiratory symptoms; resulting in coughing up blood, lashing at staff when asked to do simple tasks. -Hour 3: violent seizures lasting up to 15 minutes, coughing blood with small ice shards resulting in internal bleeding, constant pain, begging for death from how much pain they’re in, starvation. -Hour 4: Motor function stops responding to brain signals and lies on the bed for hours, eyes have glazed over, faint shards of ice have begun to grow from wounds the host had created to claw the infection out, only signs of life are raspy breathing.
-Hour 5: …………..death………
Yesterday, we were informed by a icewing messenger that Queen Snowfall had succumbed to the plague and died. They had buried her under the Gift of Light. And unfortunately other icewings are getting the same symptoms. Making more graves under the gift of light now have guards placed around the tree. Hailstorm was ordered to take the throne with his fiancé, Snowhusk (my OC) and attempt to calm down his people. Winter tried to go with him but Hailstorm wanted him to stay here at the Academy:
Hailstorm: “No, Winter. Stay here, I don’t want you getting sick because of me.”
Winter: “WHAT?! No! You can push me away again!! This is the Skywing situation all over again, I don’t want to lose you again!”
Winter’s eyes were filled with tears, a rainwing/nightwing hybrid named Firefly (Glory’s daughter) come to comfort him. Assuming that those two are a couple. After the fight, Hailstorm left with a icewing guard back to the Icewing palace. We haven’t heard from them yet and I’m worried….
Day..6, Week 2 [5,012 AS]||”….The FrostBorn…..”
This….This has gotten out of hand, just last night, one of Web’s student, WillowingSands, or Willow for short, was traumatized by last nights attack. Bigtail, who’s healed from a few months ago, nearly killed the sandwing dragonet who was saved by her lover, Horizon who was bit on the back leg.
Me and my mother are comforting her while Frost and I tend to Horizon, this was what was said this morning:
Horizon: “Willow….I’ll be ok… Sunny and Frostveil are just going to see if the wounds infected or not after Bigtail….who looked…..odd… was he possessed?” He asked, looking at Tsunami who was rightfully furious.
Tsunami: “yes he did looked possessed, I’m getting guards from the Mudwings, Seawings, and Skywings, Clay, Peril, come with me. I’ll explain what I’m planning.”
Clay and Peril nodded, understanding the situation, they fled to the tree kingdoms.
Thorn: “Stonemover, my dear, head to Queen Glory and The Stronghold to gather guards and any medics they have too.” she said, still keeping her arms around Willow who was shaking and sobbing, Stonemover nodded and left to go do what his wife requested.
Frost and I were in the medical wing of Jade Mountain Academy tending to Horizon’s wound. Bigtail had taken a massive bite from his leg, causing severe bleeding and internal bleeding.
Faint dark red veins began to spread up along his leg, he doesn’t feel anything weird but he had also told us that Bigtail was acting weird in the last three weeks before he attacked. Which was weird because he was fine the day before.

Week..7 [5,012 AS]||”…..Lockdown……”
……This…..This is too much for me. Frostveil has been calming me down from my panic attacks…. I’ve gotten these attacks after getting word from the Queens that every kingdom is under lockdown and Tsunami locked down Jade Mountain Academy with Mudwing, Skywing, Seawing, Nightwing, and Rainwing guards around The Academy and the Academy’s perimeter for protection.
Tsunami had lost any eye protecting her daughter, General TempestShadow (my OC) from an infected. She’s determined to protect her students from whatever is going on… Qibli and Moon haven’t seen Turtle or Kinkajou in days, last heard that they were trapped in the abandoned Noghteing city. Where Icewings can’t go, and will die..
Also…..I know I did have feelings for Starflight but he’s started a family with Fatespeaker and I’m happy for them, what I’m getting at is those same feelings are coming back whenever I’m around Frostveil. He’s kind, caring, soft spoken, and protective…. Like Starflight, but more bookish. Hehehe…
I want to tell him but I’m not sure if he’ll have the same reaction when I told Starflight a few years back but he didn’t feel the same way and I don’t know how Frost will feel.
Ive got to go for now, I’ll continue writing in this journal when I’m back. Stay safe, and my Empress Eternia and Empress Allfire guid you all in safety in anyone who finds this if something happens to me or Frost…..

“New ability?” (Dragonverse AU. Ft. Jake and Ana)
Ana had discovered a new ability from her gem, it allowed her to allow others to breathe underwater like her. She wanted to test it out with Jake but was worried that it might go south, having trauma about almost losing him a month back.
Meanwhile, Jake was getting a mechanical brace fitted around his new glowing green arm with Benny’s help. “There ya go, kid!” The excite, New Jerseyan night fury said with a smile, putting his goggles back onto his head, “now ya don’t gotta worry bout yer arm slipping through objects randomly! try it out.” Jake nodded, then looking at one of his favorite comics he’d gotten with Mason before his death, reached over instinctively with his other arm then switching to the mechanical enhanced one, grabbing it, expecting it to phase through his paw but it….didnt?
It worked! (“Course it worked! I built it!“ —Benny) “Thanks, Benny.” Jake said, setting the comic back down onto the bedside table, “it’s the least I could do, kid. How ya feeling? After….ya know… what happened with Ludum…?” He said, knowing it was both traumatic for Jake and himself. “A little sore but otherwise I’m ok.”
“Good! Good, imma head back to the Gang and let the Mavericks be…..Mavericks! Good talk’n to ya, bud.” He said, stepping through a green portal back to the Sharp Tank. The next few minutes, Jake spent looking at the silver and green metal brace around his glowing arm. Benny had built around the shards (somehow) and also somehow arranged them in a cool symbol on his shoulder. Just then, Hake heard knocking at his door, “it’s unlocked, Ana.” he responded, seemingly to know who’s at the door. Ana shyly entered, “h-hey….Jake…”
”What’s up?” he said, padding over and giving her a kiss on her head which made her blush, her face scales had a purple hue to them, “…I-i wanted to show you a new ability I got…” she said, returning the kiss on his cheek. “Oh? and what is this new ability?” he asked, wrapping her with his wings which had been tattered from his battle with Ludum a month back. “you wanna come with me to the beach?”
At the beach, Ana was already in the water, “Come one in..” she said, holding out her webbed paws. “do you trust me?” She asked, waiting for hesitation from him but there was none, “of course I do, Ana. I love you too much for me not to.” he responded with a smile, which made her smile as he took her paw and stepped in. Once they were knee hight, Ana spoke first, “when we’re under, don’t freak out ok? You’ll see what my new power is soon, ok?” He nodded then yelled as Ana dragged him under.
Jake steadied himself then his eyes widened as he noticed the surface was getting further away, but then realized, his air wasn’t running out, he was breathing perfectly fine, “You can breathe under water now, Jake.” Ana said, her voice warbled, Hake opened his mouth and took a breath in, feeling it exit out of gills that appeared on his neck and ribs. “Wow…. so this is what you experience whenever your swimming?” He asked, amazed at this new power, Ana nodded and chuckled, “yeah, the only problem is watching for fish hooks and nets getting in the way.”
Ana then took his arm and she started to swim slowly, “Emilia showed me an amazing coral reef that I wanted to show you.” Jake smiled and swam along with her, “lead the way then….” They found a beautiful crystal coral reef with the most beautiful fish swimming through it, Jake was amazed. “Before we met, when I was stuck in the flooded ocean level of Backcells…. I found comfort in that very cavern when I saved you from drowning. My dad….before hunters….killed him… He used to take me in small caverns like that one.” Jake looked at her, listening closely, “He always said that the dark caves brought safety to him when he was my age, so…when he did die….I hid from my mother when I could in the same cave where my father took me and where I found the gem that gave us our powers.” Jake looked at Ana whose face turned dark after finishing the story, then he spotted a crystal shell intwined with glowing moss and bioluminescence algae. He grabbed it then with his claws carved it into what looked like a male sea-fury, he didn’t know what her dad looked like so he had to take a guess, then he took an old rope tangled around a stone and turned it into a necklace with crystal pearls on each side of the carving. “Here…it’s not my best work but it’s something to at least remember him by… Sorry if it doesn’t look like him, I don’t know what he actually looked like, so…”
Ana looked at the new necklace now around her neck, for a moment she stared at it, then, her eyes started to water up and she then throws her arms around Jake who was thrown off and his face turned red as Ana muttered through tears, “thank you, Jake…..I needed something like this because I miss him so much…..” Jake wrapped his arms around her, and softly said, “you’re welcome….” Then Ana pulls back, grabs Jake’s collar and pulls him closer to kiss him on the muzzle, Jake’s face goes completely red but he melts into the touch.
Later, Trismagitus walks through the campus grounds where the students sleep in cabins are located, she walks past Jake’s cabin and decides to check up on him. She quietly opens the door to see Ana sleeping under Jake’s wing, her head rested under Jake’s chin, Jake’s tail was wrapped around the both of them. She smiled, quietly saying: “….His parents would be proud of how far he’s come….” Then she sensed the sprit of Mason appearing, a faint outline of another dragon who was Mason laid next to the couple along with two bigger dragons, assuming that they were Jake’s parents. Mason lifted his head up and just bowed his head slightly, then laid down to rest next to his brother before the three deceased family members disappeared.
Trismagistus smiled, then silently closed the door to let them sleep.

This book cover is apart of my Infection AU series and I plan to remake it.
The Pantalan Arc takes place 200 years (taking heavy inspiration from Fallout/Fallout Equestria) and the FrostBorn Plague had mutated and is still infectious.
Hybrids in this arc now are immune after it mutating, animus users die in three weeks if infected.
