*prey* pray to the moons that there are no more grammatical errors
I have a story where this sand/night dragon uses animus magic to steal a bunch of dragon eggs and raises them away from their tribes/families.
he is the antagonist of this story and I'm struggling to come up with names for him.
the design is by Duskisdead on TH!
any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
The shard stormwings also have a female variant called shard rainwing (Rose is the last one) ThunderArc is the second one, ElecoArc is the first one (they're all siblings and questions can be asked, you have to ask me tho but feel free to make your own :] )
Talented artist drew this based on my fic. Very nice stuff and yes, I got permission to post this.
Again, not my work but still deserves to be seen.
Of course I got Glory the best arc 1 protag!!!! She's so adorable and cute, I love the shiny wings and ruff!!! So cutieful fr
I started reading WoF 8 years ago, and I got my little sister into recently hehe. First image is my redraw, second is her original!
Lorikeet and his twin, Rosella, hatched in the Rainforest Kingdom around 5002 AS. The RainWing who named them – Alisterus – deviated slightly from the usual list of names as he thought it would be cute for their names to match. Their personalities actually opposed their initial choices in scale colour; the more outgoing Lorikeet was unbothered to change his scales from the greens RainWings hatch with, while the calmer of the two, Rosella, favoured a myriad of bright, bold colours. Eventually, they both settled on colour schemes inspired by the birds they were named after.
Though closest with his brother, he got along well and was friends with many RainWings around his age.
Lorikeet enjoyed life in the rainforest, but was also intensely curious about other tribes. He’d often hang around the MudWing border or by the coast (though SeaWings didn’t often swim so far south), trying to strike up conversations with passing dragons.
He quickly found that the other tribes didn't have many kind things to say about RainWings, and were overall a lot more aggressive than his own tribe, especially with the stress of the ongoing war.
This didn't discourage Lorikeet like one might expect, though. Instead, he learned that camouflage didn’t have to mean changing his scales, and that by simply acting like the stereotypical, ditsy RainWing other dragons expected, he could explore the continent with them – for the most part – humouring or at least ignoring him. He also discovered that the other tribes were completely unaware of RainWing’s invisibility and venom, but saw no reason to inform them.
He started exploring further, even into the Sky Kingdom. He began trading fruit or other items, such as wood carvings or woven baskets, to the other tribes. Lorikeet loved bringing stories and trinkets back to the rainforest to share. He’d always have an audience of RainWings before or after suntime listening to his stories.
He learnt how to use maps to aid his exploration, and then got some of his tribe's older members to teach him to read/write once he saw the use in the skill.
Lorikeet became very grateful to have kept his venom a secret when one day a SkyWing soldier took extreme exception to his presence. Knowing a peaceful resolution was unlikely, Lorikeet chose to defend himself. The other dragon was so caught up in his irrational anger that he didn’t even try to wash the venom off while he still had the chance, attempting to continue his attack up until the injury became too much and he died.
Since at this point Lorikeet was equipped with many satchels to carry his items with, the other dragons who witnessed the attack presumed he had thrown an acidic substance gathered from from the rainforest on his attacker, RainWing venom remaining a secret.
Lorikeet kept the altercation a secret from Rosella at first due to the taboo of using their venom on living things, but unused to keeping secrets between them, and feeling guilty, Lorikeet eventually felt he had to tell him. His hesitance was for nothing, though, as Rosella was completely understanding, telling him he did the right thing defending himself.
Lorikeet continued to explore and trade across the continent, though after Glory became queen he spent a lot more time in the rainforest, interested in watching how the tribe changed.
ahhh this took forever, hope u like him!!!
it JUST NOW occurred to me that we're finally gonna get turtlejou closure in her book. i really hope 18 (or any of the arc 4 books lol) is 1. sky's and 2. features some actual CLERIL closure because i mean seriously you can't have a maybe relationship between the protagonists of books 1 and 8 and not have it somewhat resolved by book TWENTY. what are some other ships left open ended that you guys hope gets closure in this arc?
I‘ve been thinking about Carnelian a lot while working on this, and one thing thats frequently crossed my mind is the idea of Winter and Carnelian being friends.
(Quick disclaimers: 1. I am NOT shipping Winter and Carnelian under Moonelian fanart.
Pleasepleaseplease don’t hate on this for whatever reason currently, I can’t respond to that well currently!
Although I’ve read all the books at least 5 times, the graphic novel content sticks better in my head than the books. Some of the character traits here might only exist in the graphic novels, and if they do then I apologise. Did try hard to remember the novel content though :]
I’m a mouse-brained individual, I’m not elaborating further.)
Ok actual writing :]
They would definitely need a while to bond before becoming friends, due to Winter being, well, Winter, and Carnelian sharing the classic ‘Skywing-above-all’ mentality with the rest of her tribe. Winter did manage to overcome the majority of the his tribe’s hate towards NightWings, so I think he could come to respect Carnelian if he was treated similarly in return.
Carnelian would definitely be more fiddly. As far as I’m aware, (correct me if I’m wrong please ^^) Winter did not fight in the war, although Icicle and Hailstorm did so he might’ve and I’ve just forgotten. Carnelian was shown to have very little respect towards her wingmates due to the fact most of them have never experienced what she has, and responds with severe hostility to mostly-harmless jokes that, to her, undermine her years in battle. However she did begin to think of Umber as an ‘ally’ after learning that he had participated in some of the same battles she had. Carnelian also, very notably, didn’t panic too badly or want to hurt Peril when she appeared in Jade Mountain, despite the fact that her queen (Ruby) had exiled her, and the majority of the SkyWing tribe hated her. Despite this, she is very loyal to Ruby and seems to respect her royal status.
Winter is a prince, so to some degree he would gain some respect from Carnelian by default, despite being from another tribe and overall being a bit of a prick before his mythical character development arc. They’re also rather similar personality-wise (pre Winter development) so they’d either clash horrifically or be best buds.
Regardless, I think it would’ve been an interesting dynamic if Carnelian didn’t get a good mouthful of flames. I would’ve liked to see Winter overcome a bit of his Icewingyness by being exposed to a battle-hardened dragonet with as much loyalty and aggression as him. And Carnelian would (probably) gain a similar benefit from being around him too. It would be good for her to learn that dragons from other tribes aren’t always a threat, and when they are pricks that doesn’t always mean that they’re a huge threat to her. Sort of like Flumber (friendship-wise, not romantic. I frequently use ship names to refer to pairs of dragons even if I’m talking about them platonically) except the Umber is removed and the Flame is amplified but less traumatised at the same time (awful analogy, I am perfectly aware of it). Or Amity x2. I don’t have a good analogy for this lmao.
Anyway, this was mostly just me messing around and thinking about one of my favourite alive characters (Winter) and one of my favourite dead characters (Carnelian). uhhh yeah yay yippee
My roommate's blankets formed a NightWonk shape and I couldn't unsee it.
Yes this was drawn on my iPhone thanks for noticing.
Does anyone else have trouble picturing the true size of these dragons? Sunny is said to have not weighed "more than a cow" when she rode on Clay's back, and the implication was that was light. A scavenger is said to have barely reached Clay's shoulder at full height, implying that was very small. And then Darkstalker and his family had hawks for dinner (seems small), but dragons also routinely eat things like crocodiles. The sizing feels all over. I know adults can be huge, but in my head canon they range in size. I think anything bigger than an elephant starts to seem a bit ridiculous, but that is only because scavengers killed an adult queen, and killing anything larger feels silly to me.
Anyone else? Just me?
So basically the other night I thought about what would happen if there was a naturally hatched dragon that didn't have any limbs besides wings. Like basically being a snake with wings lol. So we have this thing right here, I still haven't even given them a name yet but they are a SkyWing/RainWing (but it's not obvious). I decided they go to Jade Mountain Academy because it'd cause more chaos. I like to think that its wings and tail are stronger than an average dragon's due to dependence on them as it probably uses the wing claws in a similar way to using front talons. As for tail, let's take kangaroos for example. Not really much but when kangaroos are about to kick something then I'm pretty they literally use their tail as balance. Instead of sitting cuz it can't, it just could like a snake instead. Some think it's a "sky spaghetti", a noodle, an arrow or a living ribbon. This dragon and gravity are rivals. Yet somehow it's faster at flying than any SkyWing and they don't like that because it's literally supposed to be their whole thing. Alao they'd probably be good swimmers too if they were a SeaWing. When they hatched their parents didn't expect this and kinda abandoned them so they lived by themselves mostly. If anyone is curious about anything else feel free to ask.
Not to worry, the next few chapters will be extra traumatizing to make up for it.
I know it's nothing incredible but I like it, any suggestions what colors I should use to color it in? or what wof dragon species I should make it? (Ex: skywing, mudwing, sandwing, rainwing etc)
