Little info about them- left to right, top to bottom

Sprinkle: He's a demiromantic/sexual demon based off of Lucifer from the Netflix show Lucifer. He's got little multicolored squares all over his body, hence the name lol

Gray: They're an aroace demiboy currently dating Sprinkle and I absolutely love his design. He's designed to live kind of in the Sunlight Zone of the ocean but can come ashore for a bit. Gray body, but blue underbelly and membranes, with rainbow patterns on their wings and stripes lining the tail. Based off of a redesign of Seawings

Fish: She and Eve are together as lesbians and adopted Nighttide when they were young. Light purple scales, with gills along her neck and light blue wings with swirls. Seawing

Eve: The more chaotic one of the relationship. Cooks up all sorts of shenanigans with Nighttide and is the tallest of the group. She's a very Christmas-themed dragon, with her colors being just red, green, and white. Absolutely gorgeous. She's probably a Silkwing/Skywing

Sephyr: Aroace demigirl who likes Nighttide. Their relationship is complex and I need to dive in a little more, but her sister is Sherlock. Sephyr has spots all over their body and wings and she really likes hanging out in forests. They might be a Leafwing?

Nighttide: Nonbinary ace- my first permanent OC. Got a lot of me in them and I love their design. They really like reading and drawing, and are friends with just about everyone in this artwork; it's kind of a 'their world' drawing. Defknitely a Seawing/Nightwing

Violet: Blind lesbian and is dating Rosa, who is not featured in this artwork. She looks grumpy, but is incredibly loyal to a fault. One of Nighttide's favorite people; she's pretty awesome. She's an Icewing/Silkwing

Sherlock: Demiromantic/ace and with Sandstorm. She's pretty shy but gets louder the more she's comfortable with someone. She's Sephyr's sister and enjoys reading and talking about what she's reading. Same as Sephyr- I think she's a Leafwing

Sandstorm: Nonbinary pansexual and absolutely in love with Sherlock. Also enjoys reading, but loves listening to Sherlock's narrations more. I also love their design mostly because of their frill/mane/whatever you want to call it. I love how the colors came out and the design of the membrane itself. Sandwing/Seawing

Pico: Gae. He's also a little younger than the others so he gets treated like the younger brother most of the time, but hems fine with it. Wears socks sometimes; I have a drawing of his first time with socks if anyone wants to see it. He's Violet's actual younger brother and he loves her so much. Same as Violet- Icewing/Silkwing

This ended up being way longer than I thought it would be, so if's totally fine if you didn't read all of it. Thought I would share it because I keep glancing at it and thinking, 'nope, I didn't draw that, an artist took possession of my body and made it' which is usually a good thing :D

hello peoples so im doing a research report for school (homeschool) and its gotta be about something i read this year so i spun a wheel of all the books ive read this year and it landed on talons of power 😩

i was rereading arc 2 for a refresh before the new book came out so yeah ANYWAYS and then i spun ANOTHER WHEEL with stuff like "irony" "names" and blah blah blah and it landed on names so now i have to write a 4 page report about the names of characters in TOP and why they make sense and whatever idk BUT i lowkey cant remember all the characters because tui added like 5 billion new ones in the umberry romance book SO I NEED U'S HELP

STAGE 1 — Germination

Weeks 0–2

Initial Symptoms

• Bite wounds become surrounded by thin white fungal threads that creep beneath nearby scales.
• Wounds refuse to clot, instead filling with pale fungal tissue.
• Victims develop persistent coughing fits as microscopic spores colonize the throat.
• Their color-changing scales flicker uncontrollably, unable to maintain camouflage.
• Increased sensitivity to sunlight and loud sounds.

Biological Notes

Unlike every other tribal strain, this infection doesn’t immediately attack muscles.

Instead, it colonizes the nervous system first.

Tiny fungal filaments grow around nerves, slowly replacing damaged tissue while secretly extending deeper into the brain.

The host remains fully aware.

For now.

STAGE 2 — Rooting

Weeks 2–5

Behavioral Changes

• Victims begin wandering the rainforest without realizing it.
• Frequently stop and stare into dense vegetation.
• Become strangely calm around infected RainWings.
• Complain about hearing distant humming, clicking, or rhythmic tapping deep in the forest.

Physical Changes

• White fungal cords appear beneath translucent scales.
• The mouth fills with thin tendrils replacing normal saliva.
• Small fungal nodules emerge around the jawline and neck.
• Venom glands begin failing, replaced by sacs producing infectious fungal mucus.

Notes

Dissections reveal fungal threads wrapped around nearly every major nerve.

Removing them instantly kills the patient.

The fungus has become part of the body.

STAGE 3 — Bloom Runner

Weeks 5–8

Description

The fungus has reached the brain.

Individual thought rapidly deteriorates.

The infected now behave as highly aggressive predators.

Physical Appearance

• Large fungal plates erupt from the face and neck.
• Eyes become partially hidden beneath hardened fungal growth.
• Color-changing scales permanently freeze into dull greens and browns.
• Wings develop tears filled with pale fungal membranes.

Behavior

Unlike normal infected, Bloom Runners don’t roar.

Instead they produce rapid clicking noises by snapping fungal growths inside their throats.

These clicks travel surprising distances through the rainforest.

Other infected immediately begin moving toward the sound.

Hunting:

Bloom Runners prefer ambush.

They remain perfectly still for hours before exploding into violent motion once prey approaches.

STAGE 4 — Canopy Stalker

Months 2–4

Condition

Vision is almost completely lost.

Large fungal plates have consumed the eyes and much of the face.

Instead of seeing, they detect vibrations through fungal tendrils extending into nearby trees.

Appearance:

• Head almost entirely covered in thick fungal armor.
• Mouth split open by expanding fungal growth.
• Long tendrils trail behind wings and tail.
• Thick cords connect briefly to trees whenever they pause.

Behavior:

Canopy Stalkers rarely travel far.

Instead they patrol sections of forest connected to the fungal network.

When prey enters their territory—

every infected nearby instantly knows.

Communication:

The fungus transmits signals through underground roots and interconnected tendrils.

An attack on one infected may alert dozens hidden throughout the rainforest.

Scouts describe it as:

“The forest tells them where you are.”

STAGE 5 — The Bloom Heart

Timeframe: Four months or longer

Condition

The dragon has ceased being an individual organism.

It has become the central node of an enormous fungal colony.

Appearance:

Its body is fused into massive tree roots and fungal towers.

Only fragments of the original RainWing remain visible:

• one wing
• a horn
• part of a jaw
• faded scales beneath layers of fungal growth

Everything else has become fungus.

Function:

The Bloom Heart continuously grows beneath the rainforest.

Miles of fungal cords connect:

• infected RainWings
• dead hosts
• trees
• vines
• fallen logs

Every part of the forest becomes one enormous organism.

Spores:

Instead of releasing spores randomly—

the Bloom Heart waits.

When healthy dragons enter nearby…

Entire sections of jungle erupt with airborne fungal clouds.

Intelligence:

The Bloom Heart no longer thinks like a dragon.

It thinks like a colony.

It sacrifices individual infected freely to trap prey.

It learns patrol routes.

It remembers hiding places.

It slowly expands deeper into the rainforest.

SPECIAL BEHAVIOR — THE MYCELIAL NETWORK

Researchers initially believed infected RainWings communicated through sound.

They were wrong.

Every infected is physically connected through microscopic fungal threads woven beneath the soil.

Information travels almost instantly.

If one infected spots prey…

Others several kilometers away immediately begin converging.

Destroying individual infected accomplishes little.

Destroying the network is another matter entirely.

CONTAINMENT DIRECTIVE

Standard fire attacks are discouraged.

Burning fungal masses release enormous quantities of infectious spores into rising smoke.

Recommended procedure:

1. Isolate the area.
2. Destroy fungal growths with concentrated heat or controlled magical freezing.
3. Burn only after all visible fungal tissue has been neutralized.
4. Monitor the site for weeks, as dormant fungal cords can survive underground and regenerate if left unchecked.

I'm just going to yap and talk about these two characters for like a solid 5 minutes is that okay with y'all? You're continuing to read this so I'm going to assume yes. This is going to be severely unorganized but I'm going to do it out of love for the crack ship. (ALSO TO NOTE I AM A GRAPHIC NOVEL READER SO I HAVE ONLY GOTTEN UP TO TURTLE'S BOOK RECENTLY AND THAT IS THE FARTHEST I HAVE GONE)

I started to like these two ironically from DragonSheep's ship kids video, and I found the line "they can swap tiaras and trauma bond" hilarious. But for some reason I fell in love with these two, even though it sort of felt like they didn't really have much going for them besides what Winter already has going with Moon (Aka emo scary dude falls in love with nervous gifted nerd). But the more that I thought about it and the more that I looked into it, the more sense it actually made over Winterwatcher.

For one, the characters are surprisingly alike, just reacting in two different trauma responses but with the same root: insecurity and a sense of failure. The both of them were set with a near impossible task where the blame could not really be put on them, but everyone in their own family units hated them for their mistake, the death of one of their siblings at their claws. The both of them used to be great dragons beforehand, with passions and wants, despite the very early on mistreatment they had. Winter didn't want to get hurt again. He didn't want to ever care for someone so deeply would would feel the same way he did with Hailstorm when he got captured, so he pushed everyone away as far as he could. Turtle sort of did this in his own way by hiding himself to other dragons, QUITE LITERALLY. Turtle never bothered to have any more friends after what he did as a child, even though he could very easily do so, especially since he got the love of his family back or could just make up a friend with his magic. Once more, he was pushing everyone away so that he couldn't get hurt again.

From the resulting trauma from their family and messing up, they both were terrified of failure. Winter wanted to prove himself afterwards because He cares about what other dragons think of him, always working towards to achieve a goal that inevitably won't make him feel satisfied because of the things that have happened to get him where he is. Turtle cares so much of what other dragons think of him he doesn't even try cuz he feels like he is going to fail regardless of what he does, his efforts always ending useless.

I feel as though as Turtle heals, he will help Winter as well in his own way. I feel as though there are thousands of missed opportunities or poorly executed great ideas in Wings of Fire and this is just one of many. The plot interfered with the daily interactions and normalcy of Jade mountain and how the winglet would react to each other in a regular schooling environment, rather than defeating a demigod. That is adding to the fact that Turtle didn't really get much time to interact with the other dragonetes to begin with, and I wish he did so that I could have more room to play off of what they would be like together. But oh well :/

I don't think these two dragons would interact much normally though, Turtle would be afraid of Winter, at least just at the start. They'd probably have to have some sort of forced bonding time via a group project or one of them having skills that the other doesn't have and needs to know (like swimming or something).
