I was left scrambling yesterday after SFNE shutdown for the day, so rather than heading West (from Boston) I instead went North to my beautiful old standby, the CCI Excalibur at Funtown Splashtown. Ended up with 19 rides on it (plus 1 on the drop tower), a new personal record for one coaster in a day! It also brought my overall ride total up to 72, eclipsing Wicked Cyclone with 61 and Superman (SFNE) with 54. This is amazingly my #2 woodie out of 26, and my overall 13/142. It isn't perfect but I bleeping love this thing. 71 of my 72 rides have been in Row 11, so the total review is specific to that.
THE BAD:
Unfortunately, Excalibur has gotten a bit rougher than last year, which itself felt a bit rougher than the year before. In particular this affects the lateral-heavy section in the second half. The coaster also ran slower earlier in the day, and felt like it was crawling at points. It's been a while since its last retracking and some spots could certainly use some love.
THE GOOD:
The first drop on this coaster is unreal, and the second best I've experienced on a wood coaster besides El Toro. As many people have been on the retracked Grizzly, imagine a way better first drop, better second drop, and better bunny hills before their respective lateral sections. While Excalibur's second half is getting rougher, this is a first half ride for sure and that half is ELITE. There's a straight section before a very steep drop, with the photo taken at the bottom. I'm typically able to game the bar to the point where I go flying out of my seat and freefall the entire way! There's also typically not a huge line, so I "get my money's worth" every time I visit this park. Lastly, this seemed to run faster throughout the day and was really humming by closing time.
THE (RARE) AMAZING:
As with Grizzly, this coaster goes off into the woods for much of its layout. While the park typically closes at 6, on some Saturday nights it's open until 10 or even later. Night rides on this are nearly pitch black. I've only experienced one so far, a couple years ago, but plan on returning within the next few weeks for more!
FINAL THOUGHTS:
This coaster has the second best first drop in New England after Wicked Cyclone. Yes, it's easily superior to Superman's drop (and the drop on Boulder Dash totally sucks). It's also extremely simple to reride and you can wait for the specific seat you want rather than being forced into wherever you line up like with Thunderbolt (SFNE) or having to choose from whatever's still available on a given ride (Boulder Dash, Yankee Cannonball). While season passes are expensive and require 4-5 visits to be paid off, I do try to visit this park 2-3 times per year. There's also a discount after 3:00. Hopefully they give this some proper maintenance before it gets too much rougher, because when running well it kicks some serious ass! I also got a couple t-shirts, so if you see some middle aged guy rocking a blue Excalibur shirt at (insert different park here) it's probably me!

I drove by on the highway but have never actually gone through the downtown.
Hint: The 454' building in the back with the crane is the new tallest building for which city?
This is basically the opposite of a different user's earlier post about "dubious" credits. What are rides that could potentially bolster your credit count, but you leave off the list? Mine are the following (with which I'd have 146 credits instead of 142):
Ultimately I will count the vast majority of racing coasters as one credit (which I check off after the first ride, either side), whether the track is identical or not (as long as it's "close enough") and will hopefully never get on another mountain coaster, which I wouldn't count anyway.
