Sergio Reguilón

When we announced his signing I was ecstatic. Here is a 29 year old that has played for Real Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspurs, etc.

As a Barcelona fan who watched him fairly regularly for Madrid in the 18/19 season, I knew he wasn’t elite level, but I always got the impression that he’s still a very serviceable player (especially in the MLS).

I have been shocked, and honestly horrified, by his last two performances for Miami. After we went 3-2 down to Club Leon and were chasing the game, he was our only wide outlet for the last twenty or so minutes. EVERY time he was passed the ball he f**ked up the attack. EVERY time he was tasked with defending/marking his man he got beat. And his performance vs. Nashville wasn’t much better.

During the Leon game I even remember Leo shouting at him/angry with him after, what was probably, the 4th or 5th attack that Reguilon ruined for the team.

I am shocked at how bad he has been for us. Noah Allen absolutely needs to start for the rest of the season (fitness and health permitting).

Drew Fischer in Nashville vs Miami

Not taking anything away from Inter Miami’s dreadful showing last night. Messi’s penalty was woeful, Casemiro and RDP were thoroughly outclassed. Rios Novo is a novice.

However, Drew Fischer had a comically bad refereeing display.

- Not allowing Miami to retake the penalty after both sets of players encroached before his kick

- Calling a foul against Maxi Falcon late in the second half when he didn’t even touch Sam Surridge, the Englishman just slipped

- Not calling a foul in favor of Messi when he was sent airborne in a 50/50 challenge that he won possession of just outside of Nashville’s box

- Not even calling VAR review on Messi’s “offside” goal? I still have yet to see a clear replay of Messi being “offside”, it doesn’t show it in any highlights video on YouTube, and in real time it looked like he was just onside

It really felt like Drew Fischer was pandering to the home crowd of Nashville fans. It also felt like he was deliberately trying to publicly abash the “Refs favor Messi claims” since all of the smooth brained casual fans who watched the World Cup criticized him for his refereeing of Argentina vs. Cape Verde in the R32.

Drew Fischer is far too inconsistent for me, and rarely consults VAR or other officiating bodies when necessary. What a horrible watch last night was.

Worst Ultimate in the Game?

Some buddies and I were discussing this the other night. Which god, in your opinion, has the worst ultimate in the game (Smite 2) currently?

I used to think it was Izanami, now I’m leaning more toward Xbalanque after they made it so you can’t get assists from across the map with it, and generally speaking any player with 200+ hours should have enough spatial and map awareness to not get totally bamboozled by it. What are your thoughts?

Pridwin Buff After Losing the Slow

For a few patch cycles now, Pridwin has had its slow removed.

I believe the slow was bugged, and the work-around was too complex for the devs to justify the time fixing, so they removed the slow altogether.

Now, we are in a state where Pridwin feels like a luxury item, far removed from the tanky staples such as BoV, Genji’s, Dwarven, Shifter’s, and to some extent Glad Shield. Often times your last item slot will be for a Brawler’s if they have healing, Spectral if there’s a Merc/Jing, etc.

How can they meaningfully buff Pridwin to make it more attractive?

I say they just increase the CDR given from 12 to 15. It’s a cleaner number, it makes more sense, and 3 cool down rate increase after losing a 25% slow is extremely reasonable.

Alternatively, they could buff both prots by 5 or 10 to make the shield component of the item more valuable.

What do you guys think?

If you could give a realistic buff your main, at the expense of a nerf, what would you give them?

For me, I would give Ganesha’s 3 the protection reduction on enemies hit. Basically the same as Horus 2.

To balance it out, I’d reduce the length his 2 silences from 1.8s to 1.2s.

What about you guys?

What Gods feel Better in Smite 2 than in Smite 1?

Recently I saw a thread on this sub with a lot of replies saying how their mains in Smite 2 just don’t feel as good as they did in Smite 1.

For me, that would be Ganesha. The SFX on his 1 when it hits an enemy doesn’t feel the same, and his ult just doesn’t feel as impactful as it did in 1.

However, I think there’s a lot of gods that actually do feel a lot better in Smite 2 and I wanted to get some positivity going and see what other gods people think have translated better to Smite 2. This could be +1’s, better pre or post fire ability timings, visuals, SFX, etc.

For me, the gods that feel markedly better in 2 than 1 are:

Cupid - his +1’s, remodel, etc. have all come together to make him a much better feeling god in smite 2.

Artio - the ranged autos in Druid form have done wonders for this god. While she does still have a bug on her stance switch that sometimes disallows her from switching when at low mana, I do think overall she feels better in 2 than in 1.

Hades - his +1 does a lot of heavy lifting here, the change to the ult makes so much sense and has made him a lot more effective as a lock-down and relic/movement burner for his team.

Who are some gods you guys think feel better in 2 than in 1?

Radiant Gods

With Bastet and Chronos’ Race to Radiant events, it got me thinking about how quickly some people can get their favorites to rank 10 with enough dedication. I was wondering how many gods everyone has Radiant so far in Smite 2?

I had about 60 gods to rank X in Smite 1

In Smite 2 I currently have 16 gods at Radiant. What about you guys?

Princess Bari in this New Meta

Since Bari’s release, she’s been a fringe pick. Often seen as high skill owing to her bell mechanics, and relatively unsafe due to no overwhelmingly safe movement ability.

I found that she thrived in the proc-build meta, with bluestone and reaver doing a lot of heavy lifting since they’ll also proc on her bells when they’re refired.

We saw Paul, arguably the best player in the history of Smite, used her to great effect in Smite PRIME, being seemingly the only professional capable of piloting her at a high level. Though, I think a lot of this was down to her being extremely effective with bluestone and reaver procs.

With this new meta favoring tons of mana-heavy items like Thoth, World Stone, Doom Orb. Items that she can’t make use out of the mana with. As well as the mid-lane (2mps) passive giving her literally nothing, I think she’s suboptimal in the mid lane now. Chronos Pendent is by far her best item, and it’s kind of obsolete right now. What are your thoughts?

Edit: included Paul’s use of her in the pro league as an example.

Fixing Amaterasu Dash (3)

After watching Snaddy’s latest solo lane tier list, where he denoted Amaterasu’s dash as her biggest downfall, it got me thinking of ways to fix this ability to make her harder to gank, less clunky, and more skill expressive.

With her being the goddess of the sun (simplified) in Japanese mythology, I think we could give her a more fitting CC on this ability. Here is my proposal:

Make her 3 an adjustable dash length. By using your mouse for range, you can either choose to dash HALF the distance of her current 3, this half-dash will pass through all enemies, rooting them and doing less damage than the full length dash. This will do two things to improve her:

* making it so she can dash through multiple enemies while being ganked to get away, rooting them for extra separation

* make it easier to ‘stick’ to targets she’s fighting offensively

Now for her full length dash:

This will remain a single target dash stopping on the first god hit. However, instead of silencing, make it BLIND and slow the enemy. With her mirror being a crucial part of her identity, the blind makes sense. Harnessing the power of the sun through her mirror, she bedazzles the enemy with the force of the sun, blinding them for a short duration and slowing them by 20%, slow two seconds. Whether this is a full Ra blind, an Ix Chel blind, or a more sunny/white light Loki screen-filling blind is for the devs to decide.

This change to her 3 makes so much sense to me, and numbers can be adjusted if this would be too OP.

On the full length dash, the blind seems like good flavor for her, and makes her more annoying. The slow helps her ‘stick’ to gods as well.

On the half length dash, it helps her to get out of multi man ganks, even if it is a much shorter dash. Rooting them, in conjunction with your yellow-1 MS, it should give her much more separation from ganks, and also allows her to do a little bit of damage on the way out.

What do you guys think? I had a lot of fun theorizing this, let me know if I’m way off base. Is the silence a big part of her lore that I’m missing? Should the silence stay on one of the two dash lengths? Let me know guys
