I have been in Canada for more than a year and since then I am actively looking for a job in Event industry. But it is so difficult to find one since I live in Niagara region. Here people hire basis on references or I dont know how because I had 2 - 3 interviews and everytime I just hear that I am overqualified. I carry 7 years of experience in this industry and have handled multiple destination weddings single handed for around 200 guests.
I am trying to email the companies, call them and drop a message on Instagram but nothing works.

I have been staying in Canada for 1.5 years now and since the day I arrived I have been staying in St. Catharines only. I have heard that Indians were facing some racial slurs towards them and I have been lucky that never in my day I experienced that. Even while travelling to Quebec I was told I might experience some racism but none. Everyone was so nice. But today I did. I work at gas station and his card did not go through I don’t know why but he said the reason his card was not working was because I am an Indian trying to scam him. And he started abusing me.
I know its my first time and I should have tough skin while living in another country but I know so many Canadians and they all have been super nice.

I have just started my business as an event planner and my God it is hard.
But I am hosting my first event on 30th of May in St. Catharines. It is a fake Indian wedding experience for all who want to experience the diversity and culture of how we desis celebrate the wedding festivities. It has food, drinks, music, games, henna and everything that a Wedding includes. It is happening on 30th May.
Let me know if anyone is interested in this idea.
