What breed of pipe is this please?

1970s house, pictures in void under ground floor and pipe connected to WC above. 125mm O/D. Pitch Fibre maybe?

If so, what’s the best way to connect 110mm plastic. Would replace up to pan connection so that a new branch tee can be added. Also wondering how the vertical pipe was fitted into the 90degree at the base?

Pipe sizing

I’ve just bought this house and need to remove this radiator and cap off the pipes under the floor as no longer needed. It’s a non pressurised 1970s system and was wondering what pipe size was used then, 8mm, 10mm?

I’d also like advice on whether we should keep the wallpaper…..

EDIT - All went well, slightly wet as did it live, but both valves work and it was, drum roll………. 8mm. Thank you all for advice.

We’re just getting quotes to replace an oil boiler in a 300m2 house with existing good zoned UFH on the ground floor and radiators on the first floor that rarely come on. The house has an old energy certificate prior to a full rebuild and insulation upgrade.

The Aria rep. Who visited was nothing but an undisguised salesman reminiscent of the double glazing salesmen of the 1980s and 90s. He wandered around the house taking no measurements, making no notes of the insulation or the way we run the current system, he didn’t even ask our preferred temperature to keep the property at or the number of people who lived here. After this he pronounced that we need a 12kWh system which would cost £17500.00 before the £7500.00 BUS grant and then filled out a pretty card folder with big figures in boxes and asked me to sign a contract, after that a survey would be done to come up with the perfect system that they would be happy to fit.

I said I was happy to pay the £145.00 non refundable survey fee to confirm the system and then sign the contract, but oh no that wasn’t the way they could work, I had to sign the contract and then get the survey done. He then phoned a manager who also towed the company line. You could see he was about to settle in to argue the point but he was asked to leave and take his little folder with him.

Such a scumbag way to operate which I imagine snares some people who haven’t been in business and are used to these sales tactics. Thoughts.
