Since elder casts and crews in early film were actually around in the Old West days, what films are most authentic?

Even when playing music, I usually have the TV on a Western ota channel (Grit, WEST). Discovered Van Halen's "Panama" perfectly accompanied a posse chase sequence on The Virginian. 🤠🤘🏾
The moment I first heard Little Caesar on a Bicycle I was hooked. But I know very little about the band and would like to know more. I figure the interwebs isn't much help maybe(?) because they came on the scene in the 90s a/o they're regionally popular? They remind me of Violent Femmes, even though they're electric. Wouldn't mind seeing The R*A*Ts and VF tour together.
