Component question from Soda Stream machine

I removed the small display unit from an old Soda Stream machine. It isn't electrically connected to any other part of the machine.

I see two interesting components on it, see photos. I'm wondering what they are. They look like sensors of some sort, enclosed in glass. There are two of them.

Any ideas?

First time, not that fit, Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port start?

Hey walkers,

I’m planning to do a week of walking part of one of the routes starting mid September. The “French” route beginning at Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port appeals to me as it is popular and well supported. However the initial climb concerns me. I’m not that fit, I don’t do a lot of sport, although once I get going at a steady pace I’m ok.

What do you all think? Is there maybe a better route for a first timer? Does anyone have any experience of this area?
