MVP Burger in Long Beach

I was recently in Wiger Town (Long Beach).

My past visits there always brought me to MVP Burgers.

This trip did not disappoint. I don't have pictures, I'm not big on taking photos of my food.

But, their Hat Trick burger is one of the best I've ever had. Three patties equaling one pound of meat, more bacon than should be legal, perfectly melted cheese. No veggies.

Plus their fries and onions rings are to die for.

I wonder if the Burger Boy has ever mentioned this place ?

Midsummer Scream 2027

The Anaheim Convention Center will be the location for the 2027 Midsummer Scream, which has been held in Long Beach since it began.

The show has gotten so big over the past 10 years, a new home was definitely needed.

I know I'll be there.

Will you ?

Lisa Frank cake

My wife is an exceptional pastry chef.

She was recently hired to make a birthday cake for an artist friend who is also a massive Lisa Frank fan.

Seeing how Lisa Frank was a large part of the yesterdays, I thought you all might enjoy.

Spam phone calls

For the past week I've received 10 phone calls starting with 619-359.

The last four digits are always different but, the first six are always the same.

Is this happening to anyone else here in San Diego ?

Does anyone know who this is ?

Other than a robo-call, of course...

Extreme heat and humidity

Arkansas weather is right outside the door.

My house, like many of ours, is a very old house.

No insulation, no AC.

I have fans in every room but, lately thats just blowing hot air about.

Even my cat, who loves a good sunbeam, is hating this weather. Cat picture for tax.

Do you have any suggestions on how to stay cool inside ?

What's your best fan or portable AC unit ?

Do not interact with this person

If you are a San Diego local, you have seen him. Maybe you have had the misfortune of engaging with him.

He has been around forever. He also the Grinch, wandering through Balboa Park, during the holidays.

Right now he is going through the preview night line, handing people balloons and the wanting money if you take one.

Do not interact with him.

I've read a lot of stories, here on reddit, about very inappropriate behavior by him. Especially with women and children.

If they came to your town ?

The Doughboys are coming to your neighborhood !

What chain restaurant do you send them to ?

The restaurant has to have multiple locations.

The restaurant must be native to your city.

The restaurant must be something you have had several menu items from.

I live in San Diego. And while there are a plethora of taco shops, only one stands out to be covered on The Doughboys.

Sayulitas.

A Mexican/ Filipino fusion that has been around for years in San Diego. They even have one location in Las Vegas.

In the picture is the Mecca Burrito.

Police closed Nimitz Blvd

Another San Diego road closure.

As I was driving Nimitz, this morning, the police were stretching tape across the road. This was at the intersection of Nimitz and Wabaska Dr. The closure appeared to stretch all the way to the 8 on ramp.

Be careful out there, folks.

Bramble The Mountain King

Are you looking for something different ?

Are you tired of COD ?

Do you want a kids game that is most definitely not a kids game ?

This indie game, based on Scandinavian folklore is just what you need.

Play Bramble The Mountain King. This is one of the most visually stunning games you will ever play. The camera work, the sound design, the story, all A+.

But, be prepared. Read the trigger warnings at the beginning of the game. This game goes dark.

Scrapple

As a fan of all things breakfast, where in San Diego can I find scrapple ?

I drive from Point Loma to Ramona for a Cobb salad, so travel isn't a problem.

If you have had it here in San Diego, what was your experience ?

The return of Las Cuatro Milpas

Haters gonna hate, but...

I'm going to get the rice, beans and tamale plate...

San Diego history lives on in the reopening of a legend in Las Cuatro Milpas.

El Papas Fritas Taco Shop

Longanisa fries. The best $20 breakfast.

Pork longanisa, curly fries, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, chipotle sauce and two fried eggs on top.

What is your local eatery and their one-of-a-kind dish ?
