Summary: The overall story is a self-insert into Cregan Stark, and the difficulties he faces when he tries to implement the uplift ideas. Including his usurping uncle from the canon.

But the chapter I linked can be read as a standalone short-story. It's a smallfolk pov during Cregan's rule. I believe this was the best chapter I ever wrote. So you can directly read it if you want a taste of my writing before committing to read the whole thing.
