Tl:Dr at the bottom for quick idea

I have been on a journey for a month now to get a copper I like, with light ends and NO dark spot.

First mistake I made, I used color wella DARKS on an already lightly bleached scalp. My bad. But even though I had lightened my scalp and midsection, i still had this dark patch on both sides of my head (near my ears) to fix the super hot roots, I ended up going over with a darker shade, I liked that better but it was very red. Like Wendy’s red.

Well I decided to just wait it out for a couple weeks and do a few washes to see where I’m at.
Roots look a lot better, the ends are a bit lighter than I want but that’s ok.
The dark spot persists.
I’ve gone to Sally’s and asked what I can do to fix it and maintain the color but less harsh
She suggested I mix color remover with distilled water and apply to the dark spots, and then recommended I try Brad Mondos copper color mask.

Am I moving in the right direction?

Tl;dr… I have a few dyes in my hair and a dark red spot.
Should I use color remover with distilled water, or try to bleach the area again?
