How to survive MnM as a wow player.

Hey friends. I’ve seen a lot of frustration from players about the darkness, lack of maps, confusing quests, etc. Rather than tell you to “go back to WoW,” I wanted to share what finally made M&M click for me.

*** Actually look at the world. ***

My first few characters were frustrating because I kept looking for UI guidance instead of paying attention to landmarks. Eventually I started navigating like I would in real life: There’s the gate. There’s that weird building. The river is over there. Getting lost is almost part of learning the game.

Read quests like riddles, not instructions.

WoW trained me to skim for the objective. Here, the random mention of a waterfall might be the objective. Read carefully, look around, experiment with Look/Inspect/Take, and be curious. Figuring something out yourself is surprisingly satisfying.

Talk to people—even if you have no idea what you’re doing.

A lot of us have been trained by WoW to fear being the person who doesn’t know the optimal strategy. Chances are the stranger next to you is equally clueless. Try: “Hey, I’m pretty lost too. Want to group up for 15 minutes and see what we find?”

Set tiny goals.

Need a bag? Find the vendor, figure out the price, and go make the money. That little mission will naturally teach you the city, NPCs, enemies, and world.

Basically: stop waiting for the game to tell you what to do. Get curious.

You’re going to get lost. You’re going to misunderstand things. You’re going to waste time.

That’s not necessarily the game failing. That is the adventure.

And if that sounds miserable? Totally fair. The studio is literally called Niche Worlds Cult. This game is trying to be something specific, and it doesn’t have to be for everyone.

Harinir druid forms make no sense

In all of harandar, there is not one single bat, lynx, travel form muskrat thing, or were bear thing.

Where did they learn the forms?

They should have added those creatures to the zone, or had them turn into the plant creature things lethal live there.

Night elves have bears and ows and tigers all over their starting zone. Trolls? Plenty of raptors.

It just feels goofy
