I love painting - usually portraits in oil - but with life being what it is, I so rarely get around to it.
I miss having fellow artist/ painter friends for shared inspiration & motivation. I used to just hang out with friends and paint or create when I was younger. Since moving to Victoria, I haven’t really had that.
I’d love to find even one artsy friend to do artsy things with :).

I’m starting a monthly book club based on dark fiction (horror, gothic, dark, spooky, etc)
I know how hard it is to make friends as an adult with the same interests, so I figured I’d start the type of club I’d personally have liked to find.

I’m a mid-40’s woman who’d love to start a genre themed bookclub. After seeing how much interest another recent book club post got here, I figured there might be people interested in starting another genre specific group.
Specifically I’m thinking “spooky” in all its forms - modern gothic, Victorian gothic, horror, dark mystery, folk horror, psychological thriller, atmospheric fiction, dark literary fiction, dark academia, maybe some dark fantasy - I’m open to it all.

Ideally we’d be a committed group that met once a month & would alternate turns choosing books. I’m currently in another book club but it inevitably ends up being more of a social get-together so ideally we’d stay on topic - at least for an hour or so. If you like delving into literary analysis all the better.

I feel like everywhere i go these days, it’s noisy with construction or power tools, mowers, etc. My house has construction across the street 6 days a week for a 6 story apartment build. I went to the beach yesterday and there was house construction echoing across the water. The park today - house construction near by.
I know this is obviously one of the givens while living in a city but it seems especially bad these days. My nervous system is constantly on edge. Does anyone have suggestions for local places that are just *quiet* that don’t require going out to the woods.
