First Car Camp in the Forester Wilderness

The carabiner worked! Spent a night testing out the new car camping tent and it worked perfectly! These photos were to capture the feel and size, but excited to use it again soon with the dogs. Plenty of room and easy to attach and set up.

Upgraded my Forester to the 2026 Wilderness Today

Leaving my 2015 Forester was honestly tough. We ran into some costly repairs and I made the decision to upgrade since I was also curious about the new Outbacks. So I went to the dealership fully expecting to switch over to the Outback and it just wasn’t for me. I think they look great but I felt squished sitting in it.

When I saw this Forester Wilderness I fell in love. Driving it was even better. I don’t think I can ever drive another car that’s not a Forester.

Intro and Advice for our Texas Heeler Pup

I feel like I have to start this post by saying I know what I signed up for when I decided to get a Texas heeler 😅 Or at least I mostly knew.

This is Dewey, turning 9 months soon. He’s the exact opposite of our 12 year old Aussie mix, which we’ve been navigating and is getting better. So far, he’s been the funniest, sweetest, and most frustrating little guy. I literally call him a sour patch kid. From researching, this is pretty normal with the heeler, and honestly I love his personality.

What we’ve been struggling with is how to handle him when he gets the crazies- barking at us and running from us. Obviously it’s the most frustrating thing in the world and I work on not losing my cool, but I would love to know how other people handle this behavior. We recently got him a herding ball and it’s been a great help to take him out and try to run out the crazies when he starts getting sassy. But we can’t always do that and I’d genuinely like to learn how to handle the behavior.

To add- he did recent pass a puppy behavior class, which honestly took a lot out of both of us. One of the photos attached is the day he graduated. We learned some basic manners and being around other people and dogs in close proximity. I’m extremely grateful he isn’t reactive and doesn’t mind other dogs or people on walks. Honestly the only time he barks is at us and when he’s playing.

All this to say we love our crazy little guy and would love any suggestions for “the crazies.”
