first time trying a Suda game and aware how the setting is always real world with a dash of Waky weird.
and i love Jenny . i am a sucker for these partners that have much positive energy and human vibes even tho they aren't
other examples are Heismay in Metaphor or Monoco in exp 33
i finished this game very recently.
i did full mage (aka spirit) and it can be busted.
this game is literally Hellpoint but anime girl as mc when inside the structures. in the outside world, gives huge Bleak faith with the megalomanous structures and.. bleak post apocaliptic environment.
since the setting is bleak cosmic (i did true ending).
you have sync rate which is at same time your mana and also your stagger meter. so, its a bit of pain using spells and being struck down..because if you get staggered, ITS SO SLOW TO GET BACK UP AND YOU TAKE A TON OF DAMAGE.
and i can see why parry in this game can be busted. you fight a boss and you only see one bar, his hp. guess what ? one parry is enough to stance break him and do criticals. you only need to worry about doing several parries if the boss has a sinc meter too. So majority of the bosses you can just parry them 2-3 times and be grand.
and i hadnt much fun with the bosses.
no joke the bosses fights are one or another:
A) you(🧍 ) -----------🏃 (the boss) [no, the boss won't stay still]
B) you (🏃➡️ ) ----------- 🧍 ( the boss) [you will be heavily punished when you get to sitting still boss]
and me being a mage i need to do some hits to get sync rate/mana to use spells... so it was frustrating the running around or just wait for them to come to me (if you ran to them, you would be punished heavily)
and they just don't give a break between attacks...
as a mage it helped me a lot to abuse piercing skill.. since it gives you sync rate back so some bosses i could just sit back and spam spells (you get fire turrets very early and tracking of them are very good and later you get a seal that regens sync rate to 70% so extra damage amd not being fragile to a stagger).
lighting tornado for example completely deleted Ursula (Malenia of this game) or a lot of humanoids.
i dabbled into the roguelite dlc but i said enough after beating the first main boss there and losing to the non stop attacks of the mini bosses.
