Hiring Managers: Will this land me a job in Data Analytics?

  1. I will fill my portfolio with serious projects that bring value.

  2. To show my business knowledge, I will write something, a paper or any other possible thing, where I showcase my business knowledge.

  3. I have a Product Owner background, so I somewhat have soft skills.

The core of it all is showing Hiring managers that I can get stuff done, I have the knowledge and experience without job experience. Showing I can do tech side and business side.

Caveat: I left my IT/Programming profesion school in 3rd year (out of 4), so technically I have basic education. I write in my resume that I still graduated.

If I don't get a job even with lying, I will lie more and see where I actually get interviews just to see if maybe Masters would help.

Monte carlo for estimations

I'm a DRI/Project manager/Po I'm figuring out how could I not mess up my monte carlo math with estimates.

I will be asking 2-5 day estimates from developers to keep the variance low, I could go 2-4 days but I think that could be a headache.

Now the problem is, there are 2 types of tasks, fully deployed ones and not deployed.
So if a task is estimated 2 days and it will not be deployed, say we do it in 2 days. Okay. Then a task is also 2 days but it will be fully deployed and gets done in 3 days. I guess thats okay too?

Because monte carlo will look at all our tasks and their estimates, then run the simulation 10k times and give me probability, say 80% chance doing it on wednesday.

TDLR: Does feeding monte carlo both fully deployed tasks vs not deployed tasks ruin monte carlo math in some shape or form? (I'm also wondering about QA, I think that will be added on top of the already estimated time).

Monte carlo for estimates

So I'm a DRI/Project manager/PO I want to use Monte carlo for timeline estimations.

Now the problem Is there are 2 types of tasks, the ones who will be fully deployed and the ones that won't be. (software)

Now to keep the variance low I've shortened it to 2-5 day estimate tasks. Do I only ask for fully deployable tasks or does it even matter? I'm wondering could this one mistake destroy the math?

Employer finished me off and I should of seen it

M22.

I finished IT degree and was totally lost, I couldn't get any job so as time went by I settled less jobs.
On January I got a notice from my best friend who works from home abroad that his Boss wants to hire me as a Project Manager. (I asked him if there is any way I could get in).
I was excited! The pay was 3x more and it was all from the comfort of your home. I had a month till the job starts so I started studying as much as I can.
The job started in February and I only worked for 2 weeks untill Boss decided that he needs to change things up with his staff. Said he liked what I was doing, but he needed to create a new team and some other things.
Said in a ''month'' you will be working again.
I was sad you could imagine but I had all the hope in the world, no worries if I have to wait a month, after all this is once in a life time opprotunity and my dream job.

It's now June and I have lost all my ''small'' savings that I had on just waiting on that job. I was delay after delay, month after month. Yes we will have meeting next week, but it never happens. The more I talked with my friend the more I realized how chaotic and disorganized the boss is + the more I realized how much in need he truly is of a porject manager.

I was an ape for just hoping and coping but at the same time I cannot blame myself, The hope I had for that job was immense but now sitting at home with practically 0 dollars in my bank account, I have never felt such stress before and the anger and frustration I have is immense.

I needed only 1 thing, to have this job and I would never ever even write such post, I would be relaxing and making very good money, but in turn it all went south.

Past Friday I again needed to have a meeting which never happened. Tomorrow again ''supposed'' meeting. If I don't get a call from boss I will ask for a concrete date ''even though I have asked before'' I will be dead serious you give me the job tomorrow or good luck.

It boggles my mind of how ''Hopefull'' I was which turned me into a blind ape. I should of seen it, the guy is a complete nut job, imagine playing with peoples lives like this, has 0 care.

I don't know what I will do but I will of course try to find a job somewhere where I live. I'm devastated.

P.s I also have main hobbies I do and these hobbies need very good reasoning, they need stilness and what I have been going thru is all opposite of that so this stress not only gives me bad chances even if I do get the job, but also fractures the hobbies I do which are very important to me. Devasted.

Asking developer estimates Raw coding or Fully done?

Pm here, I know estimates are a fairy tale, but I'm wondering

Should I ask developers to estimate Raw coding time so then I can do simple math like add focus factor + buffers

Or ask them to estimate fully done, after deployment and qa? I'm worried that this question is too loaded and that their accuracy would be more precise if they only estimated raw code.

Estimated was 4-5 hours and max 8 hours and if anything he would let me know if there are difficulties.

Now he sends me astronomical bill because he works per hour and it took 2 guys 10 hours.

Is it even possible for professionals to do it in 10 hours?? Can I use “they didn’t call me to warn me” as a possibility to lower the price because it is cosmic
