Umph Love

In light of all the negativity lately concerning our favorite band, I wanted to share this. My best friend sadly passed away too young in 2019. The love of his life was his baby Haji girl, a beautiful Australian shepherd that we picked up together, of course named after one of his favorite songs. Recently we put out this incredible bench in his memory with the unmistakeable quote.

“I didn’t know things were supposed to be this way, no one ever told me this before. It’s all right was all I heard, this will blow away.”

The bench is placed at our local state park where Johnny would often take Haji for walks and provides an awesome space for friends to visit and talk memories.

In 2020 at the first home state Detroit show after his passing, I reached out to Joel with his story and they played Haji for him (in the middle of Mantis nonetheless). A therapeutic moment for our friend group that we will never forget.

Now that is Umph Love.

Rycenga Building Center purchases Weber Lumber

As the title states, the Grand Haven based family owned Rycenga Building Center has purchased Weber Lumber of Muskegon. Both stores will be rebranding to Rycenga Lumber which is a throwback to the original Rycenga Lumber Company. Rycenga has been a staple in the Grand Haven community since 1942. Keep an eye out for increased inventory and new services!

From their website: “COMMUNITY SUCCESS DRIVES OUR SUCCESS
Rycenga is a locally owned and family operated business in West Michigan. For over 80 years now, the Rycenga Building Center family has been involved in not only building community infrastructure like new homes and businesses but has been actively involved with supporting the community. Rycenga is a proud supporter of many local nonprofit programs and community events. Aside from these, we support local schools, sports teams, private businesses, friends, and neighbors. Our success depends on the success of our community. Rycenga believes that local business and strong communities go hand in hand.”

I’m personally excited to see what they can do for Muskegon and for a revitalization of the Weber facilities and Ottawa Street.
