What is the best feng shui bedroom layout?

Hey everyone :) I’m redoing my bedroom and I’m stuck on the layout. I keep seeing people talk about feng shui but I’m not sure if it’s “real”. Is it?

Right now my bed is directly across from the door. When I lie down, I see the hallway light and it bothers me. I also keep waking up at around 3 or 4 AM. I don’t know if it’s the layout or just bad sleep habits, but it’s starting to annoy me.

My room is small and the layout is tricky. There’s a corner window that limits where I can put things. If I move my bed under the window, I lose space for a nightstand. If I move it to the opposite wall, it blocks the closet door. No matter what I try, something ends up awkward.

I read that in feng shui, the bed should be in a command position. You should see the door but not be in line with it. I tried it, but the only way it fits is if I angle the bed, and it looks odd. I also heard that mirrors facing the bed can mess with sleep. My closet has mirrored doors, so I’m not sure what to do about that. Covering them feels strange, but sometimes I catch my reflection in the dark and it creeps me out.

I just want the room to feel calm instead of feeling like a storage space with a bed in the middle. I already decluttered and changed the bedding and lighting. It helped a bit, but the room still feels off.

So I’m wondering if anyone has actually felt a difference after changing their layout for feng shui. Did it help you sleep or did it just make things look nicer? If you also have a small room, how did you make it work? Thanks in advance everyone.

Best mattress for seniors with back issues? Mom needs something supportive

My mom’s been dealing with more lower back pain lately and I’m starting to think her mattress might be part of the problem. She said that getting in and out of bed has become harder. So I’m trying to look into better options for her, mostly supportive hybrid mattresses, since I’ve read they can help better with back support. I came across the Nolah Evolution a few times but I’m not sure if it’s a really good fit for seniors wtih back pain.

I’m also unsure about how firm should a mattress be for this specific situation. Medium? Firm? Surely it shouldn’t be soft especially since mobility is already a bit of an issue for her.
