Customer wants a refund b/c item is taking too long to make...a full month before it's scheduled to ship
I've been selling Etsy on 2014 but even still I get an odd request here and there.
I just got a Help Request for an order I'm in the midst of building. Some backstory: I make and sell custom furniture so my processing / shipping times are 8-10 weeks. A large portion of this timeframe is because of the work log on top of the time it takes to make the pieces.
Anyways, this customer ordered this May 31st and it's not slated to ship July 31st. Since it's been ordered, I've sent pics of slabs and done the prep work; however, I got a request today asking for a refund "because it's taking too long".
I reminded the customer it's not due to ship until July 31st, to which they responded that I haven't even started yet and they'll just go to Etsy. When I tell them I've sent them pics of slabs and kept an open stream of communication, they just doubled down.
If this was some sort of $50 item I would just cancel / refund and save myself the headache, but since it's several thousands of dollars and I've already invested in materials, I told the client I am unable to refund and plan to complete the order and send to them before the delivery date given.
Anyways, just a strange request since most people understand the time frame of custom furniture. What would you guys do? I know it's imperative to send pics ahead of time so they can't try to file an "item not as described" case, but I'm bracing myself for a headache this month if this person is already this impatient for something that isn't even close to being late.
