I purchased this betta as a male?

But the more I see folks post pics of bettas, I am wondering, if my him is a her?

I assumed he wasn't so full of fins because perhaps he was young? Or stuck in a tiny tank prior to reaching me...

He also has face ruffles that pop out when he gets angry. And he? gets very upset if there is any other fish in his tank.

Also you can see in the pics, one of his eyes looks like an eye, but the other eye is blacker than black. Looks like an empty abyss, but when he is looking straight at you you can see the dome of the black eye so it isnt missing and if I happen to shine a light there is something shiny deep inside the black eye.

What is up with that?

I just really want to share this beautiful creature with others that have an interest. This is a heavily planted 10 gallon paludarium, with 2 feet of moss wall plants above the tank. I will add a pic of the whole tank in the comments since I still have not figured out how to add more than one picture at a time.

But look! everyone look! What a handsome chap he is!

Is this guy just misshapen, or is he something else? He seems skinnier, he is much more --- clear? Than the other shrimps, and he has that humpback... even the clear neos aren't clear like this.

But I am pretty new to ordering aquatic plants, but this seems wrong.... I ordered 4 different varieties of floating plants. I received a random bag of various smashed plant bits. Really disappointed. Is this how such a thing should arrive?
