Advice for 3.3kw or 7.2kw fast charger

Hi folks,

Need advice from EV owners regarding the slow portable charger 3.3kw and 7.2kw fast AC charging.

I'm considering buying the Curvv accomplished X 55 variant.

My current situation is living in my own house (ancestral) where I can use home charging. I can use slow charging 3.3kw without modifying any of my existing electrical connections. Have provision to install a fast charger as well, but this will incur some additional costs to ensure the load is actually more than 5kw. Total expense including fast charger would be around 1L+.

The thing is I will most probably be moving out and shifting to a rented flat in a year or 18 months. I'll try to find an EV friendly apartment complex, but in case I cannot then installing fast charging when I move will be difficult. Will have to make do with community charging or something like that if the apartment has that.

Is charging on 3.3kw actually feasible? I understand that it will take around 20 hours for 100% charge, and based on my use case, this is acceptable. My monthly running is 700-800 km, so most likely will charge the car 2-3 times a month and it should be sufficient for me.

Will there be any long term depreciating effects on the battery because I'm plugging it in for 15+ hours? Because of my use case I won't be charging to 100%. most of the time only till 90% and when I'm calibrating the battery, I will charge it to 100%. Charging would only be 2-3 times a month

Tata Curvv X variant

Why are there no official reviews from media houses on the X variant of the Curvv EV?

Honestly, it looks like such a good car on paper. I even went to see it in the showroom and it looked pretty good. The rear headroom issue is kinda better now as they give a cutout after the sunroof so there is enough space and for taller people it doesn't touch the roof. All important features are being offered in the accomplished version. Battery packs are standard of 55Kw and in the real world should give about 350km+ range which is fair enough.

Is the X variant of Curvv being slept on? With the Windsor price hikes, the Curvv is a genuinely good alternate and Tata has fixed some issues from the older variant.

Outrageous used car prices

Is it just me who is finding the used car market prices outrageously high and inflated?

I'm browsing cars on spinny and cars24. Other websites are dominated by ads of cars which are available on spinny. I've tried to search cars on olx and Facebook, but the car ads have been infiltrated by spinny and cars24. Finding a direct seller is quite hard to find between all the listings from dealers.

In any case, I'm looking for a seltos or a sonet. Initially I was looking for 2023MY+ models, but every used car in that range is around 15-16+ lakh. This is mainly due to the dumb E20 petrol only being dispensed, so I lowered my requirement to consider pre 2023 models also as their price is in my budget. If something happens due to non-confirming fuel, then just got to take the hit. Not sure what else to do.

Even in the pre 2023 cars, the prices are so outrageous. For a 4+ year old Seltos the dealers want 14-15 lakh. For a sonet the price is 13-14 lakh. I'm looking for petrol automatic, and need 360 camera and ventilated seats.

How much bargaining does spinny and cars24 allow? Is it possible to reduce their price by atleast a lakh? The prices mentioned above are excluding the extra costs of RC transfer, tcs, and other charges from these dealers which is in the range of 50k all included. I haven't even included the repairs or tyre replacements that I'll need to do once the vehicle is purchased...

Need suggestions whether to still consider a used car or just buy a new tata nexon camo where I'll get all the features I want for 15 lakh on road?

Buying due to EV tax break

I'm in a conundrum to buy an EV or just buy a petrol vehicle.

I plan to upgrade my car 2011 city to a mid size SUV. I've shortlisted the Sierra EV and Kia Seltos (new or used).

My usage of the vehicle is primarily on weekends due to my working from home. However, in the next 1-2 years my running is going to increase due to family and planned trips. The main reason for buying a car now is to get the tax break for new EV in Telangana, which is till December 2026.

Ideally, if this tax break was still in effect in 2027, then I would've preferred to wait 6-8 months before buying the Sierra EV and give them time to get their car in order. Should I take plunge and get the Sierra EV anyways?
