Which bike would be better? (Kind of obvious but still want some advice)

I have to choose between a 2021 Santacruz v10 or a 2024 lower spec specialize demo. Prolly gonna have to get new fork eventually for the spec I wanna build but I wanna build a park/race/flow rig. Give me your advice. Which would be better?
PRICES ARE CAD $
V10 is at $4300
Demo expert $4500 with the possibility of lowering it a lil more than that!

Microfiber pads and towels

Hey everyone,
Another question from a couple of first-timers working on a boat.
I’ve noticed that a lot of people seem to use microfiber cutting pads instead of foam pads. For oxidation removal on gelcoat:
Are microfiber pads worth it?
Do they noticeably speed up the correction process?
Which specific pads do you recommend?
Where do you usually buy them?
Are there any marine-specific pads that work better than the standard detailing pads?
Also, what microfiber towels do you prefer for removing compound and polish residue? Is GSM important for this application?
I was also wondering if the yellow Costco microfiber towels are good enough for boat polishing work or if I should be looking for something different.
Thanks for any advice.

First boat detail - product/process questions

Hey everyone,
My friend and I are about to detail our first boat and we’re trying to do as much research as possible before we touch it.
The boat has some oxidation, but from what we’ve seen it doesn’t look too severe. We already have a DA polisher and we’re planning on buying a rotary as well.
A few questions:
Do you recommend wiping down the surface with IPA or a panel prep product after compounding/polishing, or is a clean microfiber towel enough?
How much compound are you actually supposed to use? A lot of videos seem to use much more product than what I’ve been told.
What RPM range do you normally use with a rotary on gelcoat?
What speed settings do you normally use with a DA?
Is P&S Bead Maker a decent protection option after polishing a boat, or should we be using something specifically made for marine use?
Any beginner mistakes we should avoid?
I’ve attached photos of the boat and the products we’re planning to use.
Thanks in advance. We’re trying to learn and avoid making expensive mistakes.

Bike mechanics I need your help

I’d like some opinions on whether I’m overreacting or if this bike shop handled my situation poorly.

A few weeks ago, I took my mountain bike to a local shop because I got a flat tire. I run tubeless, but I landed on a very sharp rock and put a fairly large hole in the rear tire. My understanding was that they would either repair it with a plug or replace the tire and reinstall the tubeless setup with the CushCore that was already in the wheel.

When I dropped it off, they told me it would take about a week because they had other bikes ahead of mine. The mechanic recommended buying a new tire, which sounded reasonable, so that’s what we agreed on.

A few days later, they sent me an estimate for around $150. Their plan was to move the rear tire to the front wheel, move the front tire to the rear wheel so they could install the CushCore, and then put a tube in the front tire. I didn’t really understand why they wanted to do that.

I asked if they could simply install a new rear tire, tape the rim if needed, add sealant, reinstall the CushCore, and keep the bike tubeless. Their response was that “it would be a process and wouldn’t guarantee the issue would be solved.” I honestly didn’t understand what that meant. Was it something they couldn’t do, didn’t want to do, or was there another reason? They never really explained it.

Later they offered to just put tubes in both wheels. At that point I was stressed and just wanted my bike back, so I agreed.

For additional context, the rim was not damaged. I’ve inspected it myself and it appears to be in perfect condition. If they found any damage to the rim or anything else that would prevent a tubeless setup from working properly, they never mentioned it to me.

When I picked up the bike, they told me my CushCore smelled bad and asked if I wanted to keep it. I ended up leaving it with them.

After a few rides, I got another flat. When I removed the tire to patch the tube, I noticed there was still quite a bit of old sealant stuck to the inside of the tire sidewalls. I also found that they had installed a 29x2.4 tube inside a 27.5x2.4 tire.

At this point I’m not sure if I’m being unreasonable or if my concerns are valid. This is a very well-known shop with a good reputation, but after this experience I’m honestly not sure I want to go back.

Am I overreacting, or would you also be disappointed with this service?
