Paying rent using AMEX

What options do I have to pay rent using my AMEX gold card ?

  1. Payr has 1.99% fee which is not ideal

  2. Does PayPal work ? For eg, can I use Amex to add money to my PayPal account then use PayPal send money to my landlord - my landlord only accepts bank transfer - so is there a way around PayPal ?

Do you guys have any other suggestions ?

Amex Gold card - should I apply ?

Experian credit score : 861 (Good)

Never had any bad credit history.

Nationally : India

Full time employed

Current salary : £25000 / year moving to 33000 from September.

Applied for Barclays’ platinum credit card and I’ve held this for 1 month - credit limit is £5500 - used 8-10% of credit limit.

I applied for £300 overdraft today as per Experian recommendation to improve my credit score

Hello, I’m planning to apply for the Amex gold credit card - I already have a referral. My main concern is when I checked in the eligibility checker, it said I’m not eligible for any Amex cards at the moment. Do you think

  1. I should try my luck and apply anyway

  2. Should I wait for a couple more months so that I’ve paid a couple of full monthly statement of my current Barclays credit card.

  3. Wait for a few months until I move to my new job and then apply

Are there any risks of trying 1. And getting rejected ? Will it affect my future Amex applications and will I still be eligible for the referral bonus ?

Thanks all for your replies :)

Understanding Tenancy Deposit Reclaim

Renting in England

I’ve passed referencing and I’ve paid the tenancy deposit for a property (Property A) but I hadn’t signed the tenancy agreement yet. The move in date for Property A is 31st July. I’m interested in another property (property B) but they don’t have viewing availability till July 01st.

  1. If I have signed the tenancy agreement and on July 02nd I say that I’m not interested in property A, will I be refunded the tenancy deposit fully or partially ?

  2. If I hold off signing the tenancy agreement till 02nd of July and then say I’m not interested in property A, will I be refunded the tenancy deposit fully or partially ?

  3. How long can I (legally) postpone signing the tenancy agreement for property A ?

Is renting near Avenham Park safe ?

Planning to rent right next to Avenham Part (on Bank Parade). I currently live in an apartment near the Preston Bus Station and I want to move somewhere cheaper but I’m worried about my safety, especially at night. Please provide your insights, thanks.

Soda and Whipping Siphon

What is the difference between these two in terms of their purpose.

  1. I understand soda siphons use CO2 and whipping siphons use N2O but what difference does it make and what are the specific purposes of each other ?

  2. Can you use CO2 cartridges in a Whipping siphons and N2O cartridges in a soda siphon ? Will there be any consequences

  3. Main reason for asking this question is I want to make Heston’s fish and chips recipe and I want to use a soda siphon to aerate my batter with CO2 but at the same time I won’t use a soda siphon for anything else whereas if I get a whipping siphon, I’d be able to use it for a range of recipes/desserts.

Thanks for your suggestions!

How to deal with sticky jasmine rice

I bought a different brand of jasmine rice and unfortunately I bought a 5kg bag. I don’t like it at all it’s extremely sticky and I have experimented it with various quantities of water but it always turns out gummy/mushy/sticky. I usually buy the royal umbrella Thai jasmine rice but this time I bought Mai Thai AAA Jasmine rice.

Please help, I don’t want to waste 5kg of raw rice :(

Any dishes to make from this or maybe I can grind it all into rice flour ?
