Just listening to Chris Barrie reading the two Grant Naylor books (Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers / Better than Life). Just amazed at how much fantasy-Rimmer is Donald Trump. Utterly narcissistic, fantacist, obsessed with adoration, completely self destructive. Georgous wife who refuses to go near him...

... Now my fear is that we're all in Rimmers BTL fantasy and it's just been left running after he got out.

Thanks to a strange temporal anonomoly, I've recently been given access to a parallel universe where reddit has existed since 1963... Looking through some of the comments I cannot help but notice some similarities wit our own reality.

"waaaaaah, why is he always reversing the polarity, how is that always the answer, why isn't this show more realistic"

"waaaaaah when are we going to meet the doctors aunt, why are we having ANOTHER Cybermen story when we still don't know why she's giddy"

"another jelly baby joke, totally unfunny, why didn't the doctor offer a Malborough to Davros like a normal person?"

"yeah, we get it... Corporations are like maggots destroying the mining industry... That's just BBC bias again. Get blatent politics out of Doctor Who"

Andy Davenport has done a fab job of creating a side-by-side comparrison of the original and bluray shots. So far he's upto the start of S2.

I'm a big fan of how well they have paid tribute to the original effects and continued to use modelwork but with a better budget and using more modern techniques. I feel it really enhances the story and give the effects the style and polish that the team wanted to create 45 years ago.

Really looking forward to the Hostage side-by-side, I was amazed at how much this story was improved by having, what is essentially, a totally new first act.

It's interesting to see the running times for each video, taking out the credits, every episode adds at least 90 seconds of new footage with Breakdown, Deliverance abd Redemption going for over 5 minutes each.

If he every reads this - I hope his next project is to update Bounty to replace "Blow the wind Southerly" with Britney Spears: "Toxic".
