Tamlin friends, what’s your relationship with the series?

Sorry, I couldn’t find a better flair. 😅

NOTE: There are no wrong answers here. I’d like to think that we’re among friends. 🌹

While I genuinely appreciate that SJM created one of the best characters ever written, I also wish that I had never encountered the larger series.

I enjoy Tamlin’s character, and unfortunately he happens to live in ACOTAR, surrounded by multiple books’ worth of people I don’t particularly want to spend time with.

So, I guess my relationship with the series is more like: I enjoyed the character and first book, but not the rest. And once his story in the series ends, my participation will, too.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Hobby Lobby wall art!

Here it is, next to the books for scale.

It came out to around $11 after the 40% discount? I’m not sure, but it retails for less than $20.

I drove to Hobby Lobby the first thing this morning, and there was only one left.

Target has this as a hint for its free gift with purchase

Sorry if this is just a generic envelope thing. I haven’t seen it before. At this rate, we still don’t really have much to go on. 😅

What if it really will be Rhysand’s backstory?

Or a fluffy story about their first year with Nyx?

I must admit, neither would be appealing to me, but I’ve heard some people expressing their wishes to read a cozy domestic tale about Feysand’s life with their baby.

If Tamlin’s arc comes to an end in the next book, would you continue with the series?

There are no wrong answers here, of course. I’d just like to hear from other Tamlin-lovers on this.

Speaking only for myself, the answer is a definite no.

I’m already halfway out the door anyway.

I’ve spent so long watching him becoming more and more diminished with each book, and unjustly so, that I became emotionally-invested in what happens to him, but IDGAF about the Night Court, Velaris, the IC, or another round of Feysand’s interpersonal drama, etc. Even the one book supposedly dedicated to the development of another couple was hijacked by the douchiest couple and their asinine pregnancy-and-baby plot.

If I actually cared about the other characters and their arcs, I’d stay, but I don’t. 🤷🏻‍♀️

For me, it’s been less, “I need to know what happens next to these people, give me more!”

And more, “Please just tell me what happens to Tamlin so I can put this down.”

Especially when I do not (and cannot) trust the author to give him the happiness that he is owed. How can I, when she’s given him undeserved sufferings, while nobody else faces justice for having done much worse? This isn’t about me saying what I think SJM will or won’t do, but what I do not trust her to.

Basically, I fell in love with the world that I came to the first book for, but I don’t love the world that the series has given me.

So at this point, I’m just waiting for that sweet, sweet relief of a finished arc for the poor man (whenever that is), so that I can move on.

When does Hoa-Hoa-Hoa-Hoa season start for you?

Is there a specific marker like month, season, holiday, or something else?

Do you space the movies / books out, or do you do a marathon?

I usually start reading the books around right about now, and start the movies at the beginning of October, with the last one concluding on Halloween night.

Alright, Taurus friends: answer honestly—do you think we’re controlling or possessive?

With utmost sincerity, I don’t think we are? Why are we even “known” for this? 😅

The Taurus men I’ve been with weren’t like that, either. They were total sweethearts and I honestly have nothing bad to say about them. Nothing worth complaining about, at least.

My Taurus husband’s theory is, “Maybe when both people are the same level of controlling and possessive, it feels normal to them because they can relate to each other.”

But I don’t know if that’s it, either.

What does controlling or possessive even mean to you?

ETA: thanks, everyone, for your answers; I read them all! For me, “controlling” means taking away another person’s agency, which is different from wanting to be in-control of my own agency (for example, my sobriety, getting to decide what I want to do with my life, etc.). Those are two different things, and people—even a few here—tend to conflate them.

With that said, I can see the “possessive” streak in us now, but I don’t understand why it’s framed as a bad thing, if possessive here simply means stepping up to do what’s right and taking care of what we ourselves have started (our relationships, our families, our homes, etc.).

It almost feels as though the other people who call us “controlling” or “possessive”—as criticisms—are just a bunch of bums who don’t understand the concept of taking accountability.

Why do we love Tamlin?

First of all, I’m so happy that this community exists; it’s much-needed. 😅

Okay, here’s why I like Tamlin:

He’s intelligent and competent.

Actually gets things done.

An excellent military strategist and commander.

Kills a Big Bad on his own, and cleverly gathers intel that ends a war.

He’s kind.

He’s romantic. The romance between him and Feyre in the first book is so filled with warmth, sweetness, and tenderness. I have not seen that level of romance between any other couplings in the series. Sexual attraction? Sure. Lust? Absolutely. But the romance itself? No.

Imagine someone choosing you because they love you, rather than because an entity called Fate threw you at them. That speaks volumes of their love. I’d want a love that is chosen, not imposed-upon, you know?

His flirtation is endearing and respectful, not innuendo-filled, objectifying, or downright trashy, unlike...

He behaves like how a lord should—courtly, regal, and has bearings.

The Spring Court aesthetic is beautiful.🌳

His aesthetic is beautiful. What can I say? I love a beefy, muscular warrior type who’s also warm, radiant, and golden—like a sunlit forest on a spring day.

SJM’s random beef with Tamlin

What gives?

This is a serious question. Any possible answers? Theories?

I don’t follow this woman or anything else of her, other than ACOTAR (which I’m only sticking around for Tamlin at this point), so I don’t really know much outside of the series.

ETA: Thanks, everyone, for your comments! I read them all! 🌹

ETA2: I don’t actually believe there’s actual “beef” between the author and her character. It’s a playful figure of speech.
