🌍 Europe vs South America: Who really dominates World Cup history?

UEFA nations have won 12 FIFA World Cup titles, while CONMEBOL nations have lifted the trophy 10 times.

Despite having far fewer member associations, South America has remained remarkably competitive for nearly a century. Europe currently leads, but the gap is still surprisingly close.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup Final is officially the most expensive sporting event ever. 🤯💸

The average resale ticket price for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium has reportedly reached $11,117, making it more expensive than events like the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, the Masters, Wimbledon, and many other major sporting events.

Football is already the world's biggest sport—but are ticket prices reaching a point where the average fan is being priced out?

If you had the money, would you actually pay over $11,000 to watch a World Cup Final live, or would you rather enjoy it from home?

Curious to hear everyone's thoughts.

For the first time in a long while, there were almost no real surprises in the World Cup semifinals.

From 2002 to 2022, every World Cup had at least one unexpected semifinalist:

🇹🇷 Turkey (2002)

🇵🇹 Portugal (2006)

🇺🇾 Uruguay (2010)

🇳🇱 Netherlands (2014, considering their pre-tournament expectations)

🇭🇷 Croatia (2018 & 2022)

🇲🇦 Morocco (2022)

But in 2026, the final four are simply the top four teams in the FIFA rankings: 🥇 Argentina (#1) 🥈 France (#2) 🥉 Spain (#3) 4️⃣ England (#4)

Does this mean football is becoming more predictable, or have the strongest teams simply raised the gap over everyone else?

Which recent World Cup semifinal run surprised you the most? 👇

Now I'd like to hear this community's opinion:

• Which player from this list has the highest ceiling?

• Which player is the most underrated?

• And who do you think is receiving more hype than they actually deserve?

I've started tracking these community discussions over at **r/FootballAnalysisHub** to see how opinions evolve over time, so it'll be interesting to compare this sub's answers with the others.

Argentina 🇦🇷 vs Spain 🇪🇸 — What will decide the World Cup Final?

The final is finally here.

Forget predictions for a moment.

If you had to choose ONE factor that will decide Argentina vs Spain, what would it be?

• Spain's possession and midfield control?

• Argentina's pressing and transitions?

• Individual brilliance?

• Tactical adjustments?

• Set pieces?

• Squad depth?

• Mentality under pressure?

In finals, small details often decide everything.

What's the biggest tactical battle you'll be watching? Which matchup on the pitch could decide the trophy?

Which current U23 player has the highest ceiling—but is still being overlooked by most fans?

Not the biggest talent.

Not the most expensive.

Not the player already getting Ballon d'Or shouts.

I'm talking about a player under 23 who you genuinely believe has world-class potential but still doesn't get mentioned enough.

Who is your pick?

More importantly...

What specific trait makes you believe they'll reach the top?

(Tactical intelligence, decision making, movement, mentality, physical profile, etc.)

The best scouting discussions are usually about players before everyone else notices them.

🇪🇸 Spain at the FIFA World Cup: A Record That Defines an Era

Spain's World Cup journey is unique.

🇪🇸 World Cup titles: 1 (2010)

⚽ Best finish before 2010: 4th place (1950)

🛡️ 2010 champions after conceding only 2 goals

🏆 Won every knockout match 1–0

🎯 Only team to lose its opening game and still win the World Cup (2010)

The 2010 squad wasn't built on high-scoring football—it was built on control, patience, and possession. Their style changed how many modern teams approached international football.

Question:

Do you think Spain 2010 is the greatest tactical national team of the modern era, or would you choose another World Cup winner? 👇

Which FIFA World Cup winning team would be the strongest if every player returned in their tournament form?

Imagine every World Cup champion since 1998 getting one match...

Every player is at the exact level they showed during that tournament.

Which squad wins?

🇫🇷 France 1998

🇧🇷 Brazil 2002

🇮🇹 Italy 2006

🇪🇸 Spain 2010

🇩🇪 Germany 2014

🇫🇷 France 2018

🇦🇷 Argentina 2022

Try to justify your pick beyond just naming the winner—tactics, midfield control, defense, or attacking quality.
