While not solely on the *Archaepriapulids*, as other marine worms would be present between the end of the Ediacran and Cambrian, they did play in part to the change of the seabed’s environment. Turning what was microbial mats into sediment you see on the seabed, if I’m correct, by consequence of their burrowing.

The concept of a scaling expansion is one I have seen before in this triple domain expansion meme, but I haven’t seen any thorough dive-in of it. So I’ll try my hand:

Scaling expansions are domains expressed into the physical realm, their appearance shaped by the summoner’s view on the world/their personality as is the case for their inspiration- Domain Expansions. At least for the world view bit. In this domain, the scritter’s ability has a guaranteed effect, whether lethal or not.

But that’s where the differences end.

The main two differences is creation and scale.

Creation: Instead of CE, to create a SE requires a lot of mental effort to project this mental image of your domain into the physical world. This usually means the average summoner ends up mentally exhausted afterwards, though training and frequent use does build up a resistance to it over time.

Scale: You’d think this would have to do with that scaling, and you’re partly right but not so. The higher scaled a scritter is then the much wider berth your domain can manifest over. The strength of the guaranteed effect is not affected by your ‘tier’.

Now let me introduce to you, Temperance’s Scaling Expansion:

Modesty
Modesty is simple.

Its domain embodies a simple, white drawn with scant furniture placed in an organised way. This represents Temp’s lifestyle, it’s all very simple and restricted.

Anyone, excluding Temperance, is marked with a letter coming from ancient scritter script, found on Chastity’s wrappings. These markings are found on the backs of the afflicted. When these markings manifest, the afflicted will have their powers dampened or weakened for as long as the domain last.

This gives Temperance ample opportunity to wreck the shit out of his targets.

And that’s that! Jeez kinda went off the rails there.

Whose more stressed than Charity? Temperance, of course!

Temperance is a unique case in that he is a sin turned virtue. Originally, he held the title of Gluttony before changing his ways thanks to Kindness and Peace. However old habits die hard and this new ‘virtue’ thing has gotten harder to uphold, especially in the aftermath of the 7 Virtuous Scritters’ upheaval.

He’s tried more extreme measures to keep himself from reverting, out of fear he cannot control himself. This extreme measure is the use of Chastity’s wrappings, which can suppress sins. Originally these wrappings were used to weaken any captured sins, but Temperance had found a different use for them. If they could restrict his gluttony more, then maybe his temperance can be held stronger.

He sometimes wears a second wrapping as headband for good measure if he’s feeling paranoid on some days.

He hates having to remove them though sometimes he has to as they leave behind a painful strain on his ears and/or temples.

Little does he know his measures of prevention only force such gluttonous urges to be stronger and when he’s particularly hungry/unsatisfied, he will revert to a temporary “ravenous form”, or rather what he originally looked like. He’s a savage, single-minded monster in this state and he will eat anything until his hunger is satisfied. Usually that takes a lot.

Scritterland is an old place. Before the modern age, before any scritter could be brought back in the first place, it was a different time, full of chaos and wannabe gods. And amongst that chaos, there were two groups of scritters, both equal in numbers though opposing in ideas.

The 7 Deadly Scritters and the 7 Virtuous Scritters.

These groups came and went. They appeared when their embodying sins and virtues joined forces, and disappeared when they fell apart. A constant ebb and flow. And thus, it was how it was; their names were kept but the individual scritters were always different. Some defied the odds and kept persevering into the next generation of each team.

But no matter what, they would always be a complete 7.

If only the virtues didn’t test fate.

You see, the virtues had tried to persist through more generations, not out of greed but out of persistence. With time, a scritter grows stronger. And the more time the virtues stayed alive, the stronger they became. Eventually, they were so strong that the effects of the sins could be handwaved away! It brought peace to Scritterland that no one has ever experienced.

But these actions, even if steeped in the good out of the virtues’ hearts, would upset something. Whoever they unknowingly angered would cause the fall of the 7 Virtuous Scritters. Much of the group faced miserable fates: some died, some fled out of shame, and who knows what else. By the end of it, the group was on the verge of falling into Irrelevancy’s clutches, and the very idea of a virtue would go extinct.

Except someone would take up the mantle. Charity. A scritter who idolised the late Generosity in his childhood. He’d take up the place of Generosity, becoming the Virtue of Charity, and his own effort to carry such a heavy job of “virtue” caused Kindness, the leader of the last generation of virtues, to arrive back into Scritterland, the two would then find Temperance, and the virtues’ base was reestablished.

And here we are!

Meet Charity, the heavenly virtue!

He’s one of the 7 virtuous scritters, a group of scritters that directly oppose the 7 deadly scritters. For example, he opposes Greed, somewhat.

He’s a short fella and tries his hardest to fulfil his purpose as his namesake, specifically trying to help out those in needs. Sometimes though his charitable offerings don’t lead to good outcomes, and he ends up having to look away from a few dumpster fires he makes on accident.

His power as a virtue is…uh…Charity! Or well, maybe Donation? Either way, he’s able to conjure and give helpful aid to all those in need, from things like upgrades, money, emotions. Anything! He’ll provide, in the better name of charity.

What a guy.

Oh and he also works at the local soup kitchen in Scritterland.
