Hi there! I posted a few days ago about my situation as a woman who is in the process of looking to become a LDS with a husband who is non religious.

I was looking for some clarity regarding tithing and how important it is for joining the church. I am a stay at home mother and housewife who doesn't make any of my own income so the only money coming into our home is from my husband. While he is very supportive of me and my religious journey he has made it clear that he has zero interest in financially contributing on my behalf.

Would this be something that would stand in my way completely or is tithing simply something that is heavily preferred but not essential to become a LDS?

What is the Mormon position on a woman becoming a member of the Church while her husband remains an atheist?

My husband and I have been together almost 10 years and have two young sons. He was raised a devout catholic but turned against his religion in his late teens and has been comfortably atheist ever since.

I've always been "spiritually homeless". I was raised without religion but have always believed in some kind of God's presence and have never accepted creation as being an 'accident'. My husband has always been fine with this and has never had any problem with my desire to seek a religion that I feel I could be at home with.

Long story short, I've concluded that The Church of Jesus Christ of LDS most aligns with the values I believe in and the kind of community and relationship with God I would like to embrace, but with family values and the importance of close familial relationships being so important to LDS I wonder if I would be something of a pariah for having a husband who doesn't wish to partake.

Any advice/knowledge anyone would be willing to share?
