The fact someone won't make an All-League team 💔

The fact someone won't make an All-League team 💔
Rn, the only metrics secondary players are measured by are tackles and TFL (which they usually don't get much of), Interceptions and deflections, and fumbles and sacks. The problem is that the variations in these stats year to year make the all-star and all-league selections fickle, so elite corners/safeties will only make teams sporadically or not at all. Not sure why, but what happens often is that a secondary player will have a breakout year, and the games QB won't "target" them as heavily in subsequent years, so they'll never get as many picks or deflections.
For example, I have a top 3 corner by overall, yet he's only made 1 all-star or all-league team...as a rookie
To "fix" this, I suggest a "catches allowed" and "Touchdowns allowed" stat? when watching games, it would let you know who is guarding a receiver on any given catch (could just sort by overall, so best DB always on best WR) and when playing ordinarily, it'd allow elite corners and safeties... to feel elite and be worth keeping when their rookie contracts expire.
If anyone remembers that one post from last month "detailing" how in my gameplay as America on the 1836 preset, this is that game further down the road. We ended up going to war with Britian and conquering British Canada near the turn of the century rather than declaring on Spain & seizing the Philippines, Puerto Rico, etc, in this timeline. World War One was a conflict between the Americans, Germans, & Italians against the French, Austro-Hungarians, Russians (the Russian revolution happened, so deaths include Ukrainian, Finnish, Polish, etc revolutionaries; same as in the old Austro-Hungarian empire) British, and the.... Ottomans? They joined because the AI heard the prompt World War & remembered the Ottomans were involved in real life—they were sorta sidelined before in all the events.
Before I break down the losses, I want to preface that Japan was also involved in this war because I was blocking their imperialism in China and Korea in game, and so there was Russo-Japanese war, but rather a standoff between the Americans, Russians (with French & British aid), and the Japanese over east Asia prior to the war. Okay, so by theater, going east to west:
Western Front between France, Britian, Germany & the Americans (primarily at sea): 7.8 million casualties altogether
Southern Front between Italy, Germany, Austro-Hungary, and for whatever reason, the Ottomans: 4.2 million casualties altogether (higher considering the fragmentation of the Ottoman & Austrian Empire)
Eastern Front between Germany, American forces in Europe, Russian (+ later Bolshevik & other revolutionary movements): 13.5 million altogether, primarily Russian losses.
The Pacific Front between the Americans, Russian Far eastern fleet, and Japanese: 572K deaths altogether, primarily Japanese, as I winded up establishing a tight blockade around Japan, preventing the shipment of basic food material for years until they surrendered, and the Russian fleet was seized by Japanese after the Bolshevik revolution sprung up.
Besides the collapse of Austria-Hungary, the fall of the Russian Empire & and the loss of Ottoman territory in Europe, the war was inconclusive in the west and the results are yet to fully manifest: Germany is suffering from social turmoil and operates as a military Junta after a counter-revolutuon (partially propped up by me) ousted Communist revolutionaries who seized the nation, the Soviets are attempting to reclaim lost imperial territory, and neither Britian or France are willing to allow the Americans to dominate the western hemisphere eternally
Anyways, if this post is well-received, I'll make a follow-up post explaining how the world is basically divided into three blocks (American/Western, Imperial, Communist) and locked into a cold war across Africa, Eastern & Southern Europe, and the Chinese warlord states. Uly
P.S: lore dump.

So the short of it is that America is whig-dominated, militaristic, and jingoistic to Europe. In this game, the Mexican-American war sorta.... never ended. Instead of an actual war, the US blockaded Mexico while supporting northern separatist movements (which it later annexed) and managed to convince Josè Urrea into overthrowing his government and assuming the role of president. Since the coup, I've been forced to... park troops along the border, then patrol the coast of Tampico, then the coast of Veracruz, while also bribing Urrea and smuggling weapons into the country. All this to deter a Mexican revolution

Around the same time, a Brazilian civil war and some other conflicts in the lower Americas wrapped up. Over the course of the years, I've managed to build an economic block in the Americas antagonistic to Europe (especially Britian) based around free trade and American protections (Monroe Doctrine). Basically, the majority of South America joined, and Mexico was forced to.

America is technically the strongest and richest nation on its side of the planet, but It's been kicking the slavery can down the road. I've admitted 5 free states (California, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, & Iowa) to only 3 Slave states (Florida, Texas, & another); the only way to balance congress is to admit New Mexico and a Mexican province (Nuevo Leon) as slave states...but, the crazy thing is, th Mexican population there isn't a fan of Americans or their slavery, and all my memorandums are failing.

I've also expanded into the Pacific & opened Japan diplomatically, where I'm antagonizing Britian over the Opium War.

TLDR: If a Mexican revolution happens: I lose the ability to lead the South on, may have a civil war myself, and the war with Mexico may break my economic block, as well get other European powers involved. I have to commit to terrorizing Mexico 😭
From weeks 6-13: 1,274 yards, 83 caches, 9 TDs, & 15.3 yards a catch. This specific receiver has given me 3 2K+ yard, triple crown season, and has led the league in yards 6 times in 10 seasons so far
