[Showcase] Normal phone cameras can’t read these—I built VaultQR to turn paper into encrypted, offline data vaults.

Hey everyone, I’m the creator of VaultQR. I wanted a way to secure sensitive data completely offline without trusting a third-party cloud server.

How it works: The app generates encrypted “Paper QR Keys” that can only be decrypted by the VaultQR app using your device's biometric authentication. Standard QR scanners see total gibberish.

  • 100% Air-Gapped: Zero servers, zero accounts, zero trackers.
  • Ultra-Lightweight: The entire app takes up less space than a fraction of a single photo on your phone.

Feedback Appreciated:

  1. Is the concept of scanning physical paper keys intuitive to you?
  2. What would make this an instant download for your personal security?

I built an iOS app that turns your sensitive data into encrypted paper QR keys

Hey everyone,

I‘m the founder of VaultQR. I designed this app around a simple yet overlooked idea: the safest place for your sensitive data isn’t a cloud server— it’s scannable paper keys.

Most security apps force you to make an account and keep your data on a server that can be hacked from across the world. I wanted to build a completely offline, on-device app that does not track user data or require accounts.

The Core Product: Paper Keys

  • Complete Air-Gapped Security: The app runs 100% offline. Zero servers, zero accounts, and zero tracking. In fact, the whole app takes up less storage than 1/3 of a normal photo on your phone.
  • Physical Storage: You can store your physical paper QR keys wherever you want and scan them to access your data using biometric authentication. Normal phone cameras can’t scan them— only your phone with the VaultQR app can.

Feedback I’m Looking For

  • Clarity: Is it easy to understand what VaultQR does in 10 seconds?

- Is the main benefit obvious right away?

- What parts of the app are hard to understand?

  • Everyday Use: Would you use this in your everyday life?

- Does this solve a real problem for you?

- What feature would make this an instant download for you?

I’m 14 and built and published an offline security app. Here’s what I learned launching it.

Hey everyone,

Over the past few months, I’ve been working on VaultQR, an iOS security app that turns encrypted notes and passcodes into physical, scannable paper keys.

The main problem I wanted to solve was cloud dependency. Most security apps rely on external servers or clouds, which allows hackers from across the world to access your data. I wanted a system that was 100% offline and physical.

How I built it:

  • Programming Language: Apple’s native SwiftUI
  • Zero Dependencies: No third-party SDKs, external libraries, or frameworks.
  • 100% Offline and On-Device: Everything is generated, encrypted and decrypted locally without an internet connection.

I’ve been running and optimizing an Apple SearchAds advanced campaign for the past month,

learning which keywords to bid for. I also recently won the 1517 Medici Grant to accelerate the development and growth of my app.

Would love to hear thoughts from other founders on distribution tips, or feedback on VaultQR!

I’m 14 and published VaultQR to the App Store—a privacy/security app that allows users to store their digital data on physical paper QR keys.

Hey everyone,

I built VaultQR because I loved the idea of digital security on physical paper—storing encrypted keys, passcodes, and private notes physically.

How I built it:

  • Built completely native in SwiftUI
  • 100% Offline and On-Device: Zero servers or tracking. All data stays locally on the user’s device.
  • Zero Third-Party Dependencies: No SDKs or external libraries.

I’d appreciate any feedback on the UI or any ideas for VaultQR for a new update!
