Which Saroo? Board, Revision, Card Size, Seller, etc

I'm currently looking into getting a Saroo, but getting a bit lost on the differences between all the sellers and varying prices on AliExpress.

I've noticed a number of them note "normal" vs "elite" boards, which from what I understand refers to the refurbished vs new parts respectively, but do these really have a meaningful impact? Has anyone purchased the cheaper option and experienced issues?

Next is SD card size, which from what I understand I can just format/use any card if I don't feel the currently provided is enough. I'm thinking the 64gb size/90+ games is a good sweet spot for size, but anyone figure it's worth the additional ~$20 just for the convenience of having 128gb/150 games on one card? Additionally, is there some Saroo version revision I should look for, or is it not really a concern as I can just update later?

Lastly, I've been mainly looking at the prices and options from the seller Gamophile Store. Can anyone attest to their quality, or do you recommend another seller? Thanks

No controller input after changing games, stuck on system info setup

Recently I went to test my Saturn again for the first time in years, and after booting and playing a game for about 5 minutes I turned the console off, switched games, and now have zero controller input.

Since I have a dead battery, I always get the date selection system screen, but after changing discs I noticed I was unable to receive any visual feedback of controller input. It doesn't appear to be frozen as the text selection is flashing, but after restarting and trying other ports I have made zero progress.

Unfortunately I only have one third party controller which I tried cleaning up after this ordeal, which made no difference. I've placed an order for an 8Bitdo M30 + BT adapter, so I'm hoping to be able to isolate the issue, as currently I believe I'm out of options.

Until then, is there anything I can try that I haven't already? Thanks

Best 3rd party Saturn controller for original hardware? RetroBit, 8Bitdo + Bluetooth Adapter?

Update: Just ordered the Bluetooth M30 + BT adapter for Saturn. Thanks everyone for all the feedback, much appreciated

I'm in need of a new Saturn controller and have been looking at this sub and amazon to see what my options are for original hardware. Also I'm in Canada.

It appears my options are as follows:

  • Retrobit Saturn controller
  • 8Bitdo M30 + Bluetooth Adapter (is 8Bitdo's adapter any good for this?)

I've not listed finding a used original Saturn controller as I'm in Canada + og hardware costs are stupid for retro games. I literally just want a functioning Saturn controller that's relatively comfortable to use and isn't going to fail in a few months. Don't care if wired, would be nice to have something authentic, but I'd rather comfortable/convenient as I plan on picking up a Saroo soon to get more into the Saturn library.

It appears the Retrobit wired Saturn controller recently sold out on Amazon Canada and was $40 CAD, and between that and reading comments around here people seem to recommend the M30 over it due to build quality. I just want to make sure there isn't another set of issues with that controller + bluetooth lag, as currently it's $35 CAD for the controller + $15 CAD for the adapter. Thanks

Most cost efficient way to attend from out of town?

I'm from the West Niagara Region (close to Hamilton ~15-20 min) and would like to try for at least 2 days/full weekend. Since I don't have hotel/overnight plans, I'd have to either drive home/back (+park) each day, or sleep in my car (not sure if allowed).

Are there any additional options I've not considered yet? I should note that any public transport would also need to accommodate my parking and the late hours of return (11pm/midnight-ish), so I'm not sure if there's any viable options/would be even cheaper than just gas cost + parking. Thanks!
