South Bay Native Update - we are ALL IN (plus some love for 3252 and the Birria tacos)

Hey everyone!

With the mood feeling a bit down after last night, I wanted to drop some positive vibes into the sub today.

This is Part 2 following up on my original post "South Bay Native starting to think Black and Gd is where we want to be".

We still technically have tickets paid for to still go see the Galaxy in September, but we are already 100% committed to the Black & Gold. Hell, after a few jersey purchases and 2 games attended with 2 more to go (Portland and Vancouver), it's safe to say the debate has been over.

Few takeaways from my family since we've been here:

  • 3252 is the real MVP every single match. The energy they bring for 90+ minutes is unmatched. I do have them to blame for my shit sleep last night because, as I was laying in bed, all their catchy chants/ beats/ drumming were just running through my head from the game last night. It honestly felt like a football music festival in the best way possible. Love it.
  • The Birria taco stand that a few of you recommended lived up to the hype. I'm usually the guy who gets disappointed by hyped-up food because my expectations get set too high, but these blew us away.
  • LAFC could hypothetically go winless in future seasons (please don't), and there's still nowhere else we would rather be. Win or lose, we are fully committed for the ride. Galaxy may have been my past growing up in the South Bay - back when LAFC wasn't around and my youth club team got us cool opportunities to be ball-boys and to go to games - but LAFC is without a doubt our present and future.

I've already been spreading the Black & Gold as much as possible - bringing a couple friends and my brother to their first game next weekend against Portland, having my parents tune into games (they're not even soccer fans lol), rocking LAFC shirts at my gym, low-key annoying the friend group with fun facts, and finding any excuse to talk about LAFC with our clients and/ or prospects at work.

HUGE thank you to this entire community and everyone at BMO Stadium for being so welcoming to our family. It has played a massive role in making our decision so easy.

Shoulder to Shoulder, my fellow LAFC Fam. Let's get it.

South Bay Native starting to think Black and Gd is where we want to be

Hey everyone,

I’ve been a massive soccer (football) fan/ player my whole life and have always been glued to the World Cup every four years, but for whatever reason, I’ve never truly committed to an MLS team.

Living in the South Bay, I’ve been to a few Galaxy games growing up, but I’ll be honest—I never really felt that "spark" or the kind of electric atmosphere I was looking for. My wife and I have been on a mission recently to finally pick our club. We’re currently in the process of visiting games at both Galaxy and LAFC stadiums to really get an objective feel for the culture in person.

I have to say, there’s been a few differences that have been night and day even before checking out the games in person:

  1. Crowd (3252?) is so much louder than Galaxy fans. That’s what we are looking for. My wife and I are in our mid 30’s with a toddler, but we don’t want a stadium primarily filled with cringey half-assed chants or casuals only watching maybe half the game. We want passionate crowds. We want to hear the heart and soul of the fans.

  2. Going

  3. back and forth on the subreddits, this sub has been SO much more active during the game. Once again, passions seems to be there.

  4. Oh, and it helps that LAFC have a much more exciting roster (although I know rosters are only temporary and Galaxy are missing Puig/ sold Pec/ are waiting on large DP signing). But pretty fucking cool to say that you have Son, and Hugo fucking Lloris. Admittedly I d

id

  1. like Reus too back in Germany’s golden era, but I digress. Oh, and after doing research and seeing Bouanga is a goal scoring fiend/ got golden boot.. alongside some Canadian nationals… what an exciting team right now

to support.

We’ve already decided on our first in-person match to really get the full experience: the San Diego FC game on August 15th at BMO. We are counting down the days and honestly, I think we’ve already made our decision.

Sorry for the novel - just wanted to stop by and share some of the excitement with this group. Can’t wait to join the atmosphere!

Edit and I already fucked up the title lol… Gold*

Where are the largest USA watch parties in South Bay?

As title goes - we’re looking for fun USMNT soccer fans where it gets loud and the vibes are good!

Anyone hear/ know anything about Dignity Park doing a watch party for the July 6th game?

With or (hopefully not) without Balogun, we’re coming for you Belgium and getting our sweet revenge a few world cups ago… 🇺🇸⚽️

Ignore the footage on the film - I cropped it so we wouldn’t be in the video when posting this. Also, sorry about the annoying commentary you’ll have to ignore when trying to listen.

However, can anybody please please please help us out and tell us what song is playing in the background? To give context, it’s on Royal Caribbean’s 3 night to Ensenada cruise and it’s a band at the pool playing this (assuming it’s a cover of something).

All I think I can hear is “baby you have to choose, just what to do”. Shazam and Google keeps saying it’s Rahsaan Patterson, but I’m not entirely sold. Would love to hear input from any of you!
