Inability to weight-bear, increased bruising, & no answers

Hi everyone,

On Wednesday, I got into a car accident, was taken to ER where they took x-rays of foot (non weight-bearing), negative, and was discharged. On Thursday, I went to urgent care where they also did x-rays, same ones as ER and they were also negative.

I am unable to weight-bear on my foot, swelling & bruising has gotten worse, and I just don’t know what to do at this point. I really have trouble believing that my foot is simply “bruised” and came across this sub to see photos of bruising that look VERY similar to mine.

Any suggestions or recommendations on where to go from here would be appreciated. I just hate feeling like I’m insane but I know my body and considering I can’t bear weight at all, I’m super concerned.

2 sets of x-rays negative but unable to weight-bear & bad bruising

Hi everyone,

I, 20F got into a car accident less than 24hrs ago. Was seen immediately and x-rays were negative, but was still unable to bear weight on foot.

This morning, I woke up with very bad bruising & swelling despite having it elevated all night, and it’s progressed throughout the day. I went to urgent care for a second opinion: they did a 2nd set of x-rays (also negative), but the inability to bear weight is noticeably worse than before.

While the provider was feeling around my foot, I noticed that I couldn’t really feel his fingers touching my big toe as well as surrounding parts of my foot where the bruising ends. It just feels like pins & needles as if my foot is asleep. Additionally, I cannot move my big toe at all.

I am using the RICE method to manage, but I’m concerned, as I had a hairline fracture on the growth plate of my ankle when I was younger, and the pain I’m currently experiencing feels much worse.

If anyone has any advice, suggestions, or ideas on where to go from here, I’d really appreciate it.

2022 Tucson Engine

Hi everyone.

I recently took my 2022 Tucson with ~53,000mi on a cross-country trip. Noticed that she was driving funky, pushing higher RPMs than usual, but chalked it up to load as I was carrying additional weight compared to my usual drives. Made it to Kansas, check engine light came on, had a cylinder 4 misfire, bad spark plug. Mechanic replaced all 4, and I was back on my way.

Through the Rockies, light came on again. This time, P219d, air-fuel ratio imbalance, but naturally turned off after a few more drives.

Through the last few hours of the trip, light came on for a 3rd time, and I immediately knew it was another misfire. I took it to a Midas, as there was no dealer in the area, where they confirmed I had a cylinder 2 misfire, in addition to P219d. After inspection, they saw nothing wrong with spark plugs, coils, or injectors, and did a compression test, where cylinder 2 was ~95 PSI. They suggested that I go to a dealer, and that I’d make it to my destination, as they believe it’s a valve or piston issue.

I immediately brought the vehicle to a dealer the following morning and told them all relevant info. They came back to me saying that a TBS is out for my vehicle with the associated codes and are replacing all 4 injectors under warranty. However, Midas said all 4 were okay, and as far as I’m aware, compression doesn’t correlate with injector issues.

I’m worried because I have to make another long drive (~10 hours) on Friday, and the vehicle should be done Thursday evening. If I get stuck in the middle of nowhere because the car is not truly fixed, and I need a full engine replacement, what do I even do? While yes, I am incredibly grateful for the 5yr/60,000mi warranty via Hyundai, I can’t help but be worried that the dealer isn’t fully inspecting the vehicle due to lack of time, and am terrified of potentially getting stuck for a 3rd time.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.
