Does anyone like/love their Tucson hybrid? 👀

So I’ve got a ‘23 Limited gas, new to me, have had it for a few months. I’d like to swap it out eventually for a hybrid in a year or two. The “easiest” transition would be to get a ‘23-‘26 Tucson limited hybrid, but tbh I’ve seen lots of complaints on this subreddit—and the phantom braking recall issue put a bigger dent in my Hyundai trust. I also see folks complain about getting lower than ideal mpg.

So if you own or lease a hybrid, how are you liking it? Any issues? My top hybrid contenders are:

- ‘23-‘26 Tucson limited (in love with my 360 camera and can’t give it up 😍)
- ‘26 RAV4 limited. Toyota has a reputable hybrid powertrain design, which would give me peace of mind
- ‘24-‘26 Honda CR-V Touring, though I’d be giving up some awesome tech features
- ‘23-‘26 Lexus RX 350 hybrid luxury, should I be blessed with extra $ to afford my dream car.

Curious to hear about your experience, thus far. Thanks!

2027-2028 Tucson officially unveiled!

I love the new muscular look. I'm still on the fence about the Tesla-esque interior. It's ~ 2.3 inches longer than the current generation.

There are also rumors of a more powerful, performance hybrid N model. Yes, they're bringing back the N-Line!

2026 Tucson Ultimate PHEV Premium warranty Canada

Just got a new 2026 Tucson Ultimate PHEV yesterday. Dealer is offering a premium warranty for $2,000 CAD + winter mats. Is the warranty worth it, or should I skip it? Any advice from other Tucson/PHEV owners?

Engine turn on for hybrid

I’m a proud 2024 hyundai tuscon hybrid owner. From when I started driving, I was always told to have the engine running for a couple of mins for it to warm up, essentially to get the oil flowing before driving away, to prevent engine wear and tear. But whenever I start my tuscon it always starts in ev mode, with the engine not engaged. What should I do to engage the engine while parked? I rev for a bit to let the engine turn on but as soon as i take my foot off the gas pedal it goes back to EV mode. Any recommendations/tips?

Tucson HEV - 2022

Thrilled to join the club with my 2022 Tucson HEV Premium! After having it as a rental during our Florida visit in 2022, I’ve wanted one for myself. Traded in my 2019 Hyundai Kona EV and have no regrets at all. What an amazing vehicle!

Was a little “sad” that the Intense Blue version isn’t sold here in the Netherlands, but the Tucson looks incredible in Shimmering Silver!

2024 Tucson Keyless Entry Q

Minor irritation usually, but something that can be extremely infuriating when start align, so I thought I’d ask the brain trust:

On the keyless entry/touch entry, I know where on my driver door handle to touch to unlock. Usually works, however many a time (usually when my heads are already occupied), my unlock touch actually serves to lock. Again. And again. Doing nothing different than usual. This can go on for 20x before I finally get irritated enough to fish out the key fob from my pocket and unlock manually.

Am I doing something wrong? Any way to adjust?

Bought SEL, Now Regretting Not Getting SEL Convenience.

I recently bought a 2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid SEL AWD from Key Hyundai in Manchester, CT. I've driven about 1,300 miles so far.

I really like the Tucson Hybrid itself — the way it drives, the comfort, fuel economy, etc. My only issue is that I'm starting to regret not getting the SEL Convenience trim.

I'm now considering contacting the dealer to see if they would let me trade/exchange my SEL for an SEL Convenience, paying the difference.

For those who have been in a similar situation:

- Is this something dealers commonly agree to?

- With ~1,300 miles, how much of a financial hit should I realistically expect?

- Would you even consider doing this, or just keep the SEL?

- What would be a reasonable maximum amount to pay to move from the SEL to SEL Convenience?

- Any tips for negotiating this with the dealer?

I know I should have bought the Convenience in the first place 😅. I'm just trying to figure out whether it's worth fixing the mistake now or living with the SEL.

Would appreciate experiences from anyone who's actually done a similar post-purchase trim upgrade.

My new Tucson is here and I love it

Over the past week, I said goodbye to my old 2019 Tucson and welcomed my new one, a 2026 model with a 1.6-litre petrol engine, 180 hp, 4WD, a 7DCT, and an almost top-level trim (sunroof, leather seats, etc.). It costs 38.000 euros in Europe ($44.000).

After driving thousands of miles in cars with manual transmissions, this is my first automatic. I thought the transition would be difficult, but it has been super easy. I still need some time to get used to switching between reverse and drive when parking, but it’s not a big deal, especially when you have plenty of sensors and a 360-degree camera.

Long story short - I'm more than happy with my new car!

Tucson loses 12V power for a few minutes

We've been having a problem with our 2026 gas powered Tucson. On 3 occasions it will just suddenly lose all 12V power (fortunately not while we're driving, only when we go to the car to start it). The dash goes dead, no chimes, no hazard lights, doesn't recognize the key fob, can't start the car, nothing. We're not doing anything strange, just going to the car. After about 5 minutes everything comes back to life and we can start the car and go on our merry way. The strange thing is that there are no error codes so the mechanics don't really have a place to start. Has anyone had a similar issue? Any thoughts on what could be going on.

2025 Tucson Hybrid suddenly lost all power in highway (transmission malfunction), has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone,

I have a 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid with only around 2,500 km on it, purchased in May 2026, and I just experienced a pretty serious drivetrain/transmission/hybrid-system failure.

I was driving with cruise control (approx. 100km) on the highway when I suddenly felt a noticeable kick/jerk from the car. Immediately afterwards, a transmission error appeared on the dashboard, followed by “Check Hybrid System.” All power to the throttle was gone!

I was able to safely stop the car and luckily there was a highway exit when I lost the ability to throttle. The car remained powered on but it would not move when pressing the gas pedal. After, turning it off and on I was able to move the car a short distance using the electric motor and thankfully park in safe spot.

However, when the petrol engine kicked in, the car started jerking/shuddering badly. Shortly afterwards, I lost all propulsion. The car was still powered on, but it would no longer move.

The car has only 2,500 km, so I’m obviously very concerned and disappointed. It has now gone to the dealer, and I’m waiting for them to diagnose the exact cause.

Has anyone with a 2025/2026 Tucson Hybrid experienced something similar?

If you’ve had this happen, what was the final diagnosis and how did Hyundai fix it?

Tbh my biggest concern now is reliability and whether this will happen again after the fix as it was a big scare in the highway and things could’ve gone horribly wrong if the timing was just a bit different.

Thanks in advance.

AAGI Warranty Claim – Torque Converter/Transmission Issue – Will They Cover It?

I’m looking for some opinions from people who have dealt with AAGI/AutoGuard warranty claims.

I have a Hyundai Tucson that has been at Hiley Hyundai for about a week because of a transmission issue. The dealership documented:

  • Torque converter shudder
  • Intermittent hesitation/erratic shifting between 1st and 2nd gear
  • They also told me there is metal debris in the transmission

I have AAGI Ultimate Coverage. My contract specifically lists the torque converter as a covered component and also covers internal lubricated transmission components.

The dealership submitted the claim to AAGI last Thursday. AAGI said an independent inspector would be dispatched within 1–2 business days. The inspector still hasn’t arrived, although AAGI told me Monday that the inspector should arrive that day.

My questions for anyone who has dealt with AAGI:

  1. How long did your inspection/authorization take?
  2. Did AAGI approve your transmission or torque-converter repair?
  3. If metal debris was found, did they require a transmission teardown before approving the repair?
  4. Did AAGI cover the transmission damage even if the initial failure involved the torque converter?
  5. How long did it take from inspection to actually getting your vehicle repaired?

I’m mainly trying to understand what to expect from here and whether this sounds like a claim AAGI would normally cover.

Thanks in advance for any experiences or advice.

Tucson Key Issue

I’ve recently leased a new 2026 Tucson from Atlanta and during the handover I’ve noticed a few scratches on the key and asked for the replacement but they refused saying it has to be damaged to replace the key. Is it really true ? Or the Dealer has to replace it ? Can any one please suggest me what to do ?

Do you use the driver's assistance?

I'm thinking of buying a Tucson, and today I asked somebody who was getting into their 2026 Tucson Blue how they like it. He said he liked it a lot but he couldn't stand the driver's assistance and that it's almost caused him to get into multiple accidents. He said you can disable it but you have to do it every time you get in the car and sometimes he forgets. I told him I heard something about that and that there was supposed to be an update for it, but he hadn't heard about it.

For people who've gotten the recall/update done, do you feel safe using the car now?

1 full year Review

I've had my 24 Tucson PHEV limited for over a year. Honestly, I'm very happy with it. This car has everything I ever wanted at a fraction of the cost of other similar vehicles. It's smooth, quiet, reliable, has tons of room and great gas mileage (of course I rely a lot on the battery.)

Please look at the picture for some fuel stats, summer months in the northeast I average over 100 mpgs vs winter where it takes a massive hit and I averaged around 45 mpgs, overall roughly 17k miles drives at an average of 74 mpgs (not bad at all.)

I highly recommend this vehicle, especially for those with short commutes.

2025 Hyundai Tucson SEL Conv. audio issue

Hi there! I need some help with my car. Whenever I turn the volume up past 30, the bass completely cuts out, and the music becomes distorted. Almost like there’s volume leveling happening but it’s far too aggressive. Btw this is using Spotify, on wireless CarPlay. I’m assuming that’s just how the radio is, but I’m wondering if anyone knows a trick or has any solutions. I changed the EQ settings countless times and it makes no difference. I had a Toyota Camry before this and I thought those speakers were bad but this is just completely abysmal.
