What’s the deal with snark over “common sense”?

Why is it such common behavior for people to just put down others or overly joke over the littlest everyday mistakes? Like, as someone who feels kinda bad with directions, having people in the car can feel like a test rather than simply me driving, because I know what could happen if anything isn’t perfect. Overall, just performance pressure in tasks.

Obviously, this is just a random example, but in general, I feel like I’ve had enough of these passive-aggressive “shame” moments to where I don’t feel at peace even doing basic stuff at times with people. At this point, I’ve made peace with the fact that life is too short to hang with folks who default to that in a heartbeat.

Anyone else in this boat? You strive to be chill, humble, understanding, and most importantly NON-judgmental. It just doesn’t really feel like I get that energy back. Why is this an accepted part of how we interact?
