Transport strikes - September 25&26th

I am traveling from the US to visit Rome & Florence. We arrive September 18th in Rome. We planned to take a train to Florence on September 22nd and then take a train back to Rome on the 25th. Our flight leaves the 26th at 10am. Im concerned we may need to rearrange our city visits & that we may be stuck without air transport on the 26th. I haven’t traveled in Europe during a strike, so I was wondering what we should do about this.

Threshold is NOT for the weak

Tried Threshold for the first time this morning… good LORD it is hard. I thought Athletica was the hardest I’ve tried so far (only a few weeks into F45 training) but this may have taken the cake. 3 minutes work with 40 seconds of rest with each minute increasing in intensity. Man it was hard but I feel so GOOD!!!

First F45 class today ever & it was cardio “Athletica”

I strength train regularly and run a 5K a week. Decided to try out a class, and man it kicked my BUTT. I didn’t think it would be a walk in the park at all and I’m happy I went into it knowing it was going to be difficult. It was really fun and I’m excited to try out tomorrow’s class which is The Piston, upper and lower body.

Though I’ll probably be sore AF

Just wanted to come on here and say I finally gave it a go!

Left my job Thursday night and landed in the ER last night, new job starts Tuesday.

I quit my job Thursday night and wound up in the ER last night (saturday). Im scared because I got a ton of tests done and know that my bill is going to be insane.

I am not sure if my health insurance ends on the day my employment ended or at the end of the month. I haven’t received anything in my inbox about COBRA. Am I going to have to pay this emergency bill out of pocket?? I’m very worried.

Giving notice after only being employed for a month?

Starting with a new company soon. I’ve been working at my current employer only for a month. I’m scared to give a week notice because I’m afraid since I’ve only been here for a month, they will let me go immediately. I’m leaving because of a benefits policy that was never explained to me before being hired despite asking and I have a better opportunity elsewhere.

I’ve always given two weeks so I’m just feeling anxious since I need the money. I also feel guilty giving same day notice.

Opportunity to join a very niche IT field… but it’s onsite fully.

I am expecting an offer to join a very niche IT field. It will be in the realm of theme park technology. I’ll be supporting users with basic stuff, however, since the team is small I will be exposed to really awesome technology that theme parks are designed & built on. Probably a ton of networking, security, azure & on prem environment. The only real big down side is: it is 5 days onsite.

I’m early in my career and I feel like it could be a segway into finding what I really want to do in my tech career. I work remote doing basic support, my manager told me I won’t be able to shadow sec ops or infra unless I apply to those departments and land a spot there. Being remote has been amazing but, I’m trying to think long term about what would really benefit my career.

It’s about a 25 min drive each way, traffic won’t be great that’s for sure. The pay will be more than what I am making now.

Do you think it’s worth the jump? I could wait around for a hybrid opportunity at a larger company that I could grow into. But something about this opportunity is really pulling me in. Everyone seems so nice and awesome too.

Feeling stagnant in my career and idk if it is in my head

Completely changed careers in 2024, got into IT and joined an MSP. Left after a year due to an offer that I couldn’t refuse, big raise and was told they are building the team up from the ground up so I felt like I had a chance to move up quickly since the company was growing rapidly. (Legit like 10-15 hires per week) I left because they fired my director of IT, didn’t replace him. The guy who over saw all IT operations(my old boss, boss.. don’t know why they structured it this way) knew nothing of IT and was a CFA… not a damn clue about IT. They refused to hire more staff for our team, we were drowning. Only 2 of us for 7 months, hired another tech and then the senior tech ended up quitting. It was me and another tech running the entire ship, all of it. I burned out after they fired the CFA and still didn’t replace the IT leader. Took a job at an MSP, found out that the work I’m doing is so basic and siloed. Some companies I can’t even reset their passwords or add people to shared inboxes. It’s “tier 2” work or companies won’t give us access. Also they lied to me about working on federal holidays, our department doesn’t automatically get them off.

I want to find another job doing closer to tier 2 work. I want to eventually do IAM engineering. I need networking experience and haven’t touched any since the first job I worked at. Am I falling behind? I genuinely just feel lost and want to excel. I have 2 certs, n+ is scheduled for end of month and then I plan to knock out sec+. I have a ton of experience in Azure, exchange, sharepoint, some cyber security softwares like arctic wolf, huntress, checkpoint… and experience from my old MSP in Active Directory and other on prem stuff. Minimal networking but enough to trouble shoot pretty thoroughly. If you read this far, thank you.

I wish I never left my old MSP. I could have learned so much and it ended up backfiring. I did gain a ton of experience in azure but, still.

TLDR: I’ve had 3 IT jobs in 2 years and idk what to do. I feel like I’ve just been dealt a bad deck of cards and swapping to another job to get more experience in networking seems like a good move but unsure because it may look bad…

First time seeing a job listing for a 1.5 level IT technician lol. What actually is the difference between a level 1.5 to 2 tech? I’ve always seen tier 1,2, or 3 😂
