How do we know that a room or house is empty before checking it to confirm?

You know the feeling when you walk into your house and you can just tell that no one is there? What is that? How can we tell? Is it subconscious clues or is there a bodily sense involved? Is it just the subtle lack of noise? Can we somehow detect the lack of human movement in the vibrations in the air? Does our proprioception play a role?

If there have been any studies on this I’d love to know.

Memorial bench - how much did it cost your family?

I’m looking at writing up a will and I want to put a little aside for a memorial bench somewhere. I understand that pricing differs depending on location, material, plaque, etc. I also understand that, hopefully, by the time I shuffle my mortal coil the price may be very different, but my family genetics are a ticking time-bomb and I don’t maintain the meat suit like I should. I’m just wondering if I should be looking at $1500 or $5000.

Has anyone paid for a memorial bench, how much and what general area is it? Beach/park/sporting field, etc.

Can anyone ID this bone? Found by a salt water river in Adelaide, South Australia.

It seems to have some sort of joint at the end, it looks almost like a hinge joint (pics 2 & 3). It’s rough on the top(?) and has a groove running down the middle of the underside(?). It reminds me of some type of sawfish rostrum, but we don’t have those this far south. Someone mentioned the pharyngeal jaw of an eel in another post, but it doesn’t look like examples I’ve seen online. We do have a triggerfish relative in the river, could it be the dorsal spine of a leatherjacket? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nankeen kestrel looking for brunch at the beach.

It flew to hover right over my head, I’m wondering if the glint from my camera caught its attention.

Nankeen Kestrel looking for breakfast along the dunes in Sempahore, South Australia.

I’m sure it came right above me just to have a look at what I was up to.

Port Dock/ Outer Harbour line closed. (Not scheduled maintenance).

Just came over the tannoy, closed until further notice. The next train was scheduled for 4 mins away when they announced it so I’m guessing something has happened on the way here.

Edit: she’s open again, just as I’ve left the station thinking I’d walk it. There’s now a 15-20 minute delay on the services.

Kesha’s song Tik Tok just came on the radio… They censored P Diddy’s name…

It took me a second to realise what it was that they could have bleeped… funny how things change

Question for Drama Teachers

I’m an education student and have the opportunity to work closely with a state theatre company. They’ve asked us to nominate which role we would like to explore. I’m tossing up between director and stage manager, but wondered which role would be most beneficial to being a drama teacher.
Keen to hear your ideas, cheers.
