How do we know that a room or house is empty before checking it to confirm?
You know the feeling when you walk into your house and you can just tell that no one is there? What is that? How can we tell? Is it subconscious clues or is there a bodily sense involved? Is it just the subtle lack of noise? Can we somehow detect the lack of human movement in the vibrations in the air? Does our proprioception play a role?
If there have been any studies on this I’d love to know.
