Control panel testing too far back. What did I do wrong?

I'm putting the control panel back on to my Sinistar cabinet and I must have done something wrong. I removed the latch to paint the cabinet, but that was a year and a half ago and I honestly don't remember if this is the correct latch, but I only have this one cabinet and these two latches are the only ones I found in the hardware pile. The hook on the control panel never came off.

When I latch the panel in place it has a whole lot of slack and the panel tiles back towards the player. I don't see any way of adjusting the position of the latch as the mounting holes are round and do not let the latch slide forward or back.

Any advice?

Edit: I screwed up the title. I should read 'tilting' and not 'testing'.

Finally got the control panel finished

I finally got control panel done on my Golden Axe project. Time to wire it up and get an overlay stuck on.

Where do all y'all get your CPOs?

Looking for an opinion on joysticks for Golden Axe rebuild.

I am getting closer to the finish line with my Golden Axe rebuild project and I'm at the point where I've started work on the Control Panel. I'm in Canada and arcade hardware is very expensive because everything needs to be imported and the Canadian Dollar is a limp dick right now. And I'm considering getting parts from AliExpress. Also, this is my first arcade project and I have no previous experience with joysticks and buttons.

I've read that there are three good manufacturers of joysticks: Sanwa, Crown, Lorenzo.

The thing is that for the price of getting just one of those joysticks I can get a whole set of buttons and two joysticks from China. Anyone have any experience with the Chinese joysticks?

Another thing is the Leaf vs Micro switches. The fighting game fans like the micro switches. But what is best for Beat 'em Ups?
