The Odyssey: A Social Media Psyop? Paid reviews

The Odyssey: A Social Media Psyop? Paid reviews

A buddy. He has a small time YouTube channel and social media, good enough to monetize. It had been years since we saw each other, and I accidentally met him at a tech shop.

Long story short, he got paid to say nice things about The Odyssey movie, and it was a considerable amount of money. He said The Odyssey guys spent a ton of money on marketing. Apparently, plenty of other guys like him got paid too. He said it was the highest amount he had ever been paid.

So damn, The Odyssey really wanted to shove that movie into everyone’s social media. In a way, it felt like a social media psyop. They basically hijacked everyone’s feeds, and that was not cheap.

I didn’t watch it. Weirdly, most people I know, even LGBT and others, didn’t watch it either. The only reason I’ve seen most people go to the movies lately is for their kids, so I guess that says something too.

Like most people in tech, we kind of prefer to stay at home and watch a movie with our snacks, beer, and whatever else we want, either alone or with some buddies.

I also heard that the studio bought an insane amount of tickets themselves, lol I did not know studios did this. What were they trying to prove? Lol. They’re making the movie cost a shit ton of money with the actors’ salaries and the massive marketing campaign, and now they’re even buying tickets themselves? Lol.

Sol Rodríguez - Sasha Bordeaux what a babe!

Photo is from a recent green lantern event. Other actors from peacemaker were also in that event.

Why has Hollywood stopped producing movies about people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, like I Am Sam?

Popular actors and actresses from this decade, like Elliot Page, Zendaya, and others with great acting range, could play some of these roles too, but it feels like Hollywood doesn’t make these kinds of movies anymore.

If I posted this in another sub, they’d crucify me. Helen Mirren 78+ years. Absolute babe!

Helen Mirren can act, absolute class and beauty. What is it with some actresses nowadays who just can’t act?

It’s like watching a movie from Audrey Hepburn or Meryl Streep and thinking, wow, they don’t just play a role, they become the character. There’s a depth and presence to them that draws you in. So many actresses nowadays feel robotic in comparison. What happened to that kind of magic?

TIL Harcourt is a really minor character in the comics compared to the TV show.

I didn’t know Gunn wrote, directed, and cast the whole thing himself. He had creative control over every aspect of it, right down to the smallest detail.

The question now is: will Season 3 ever happen?

Who Reports People for Watching 12 Monkeys?

At this place, outside of working hours, some coworkers and I would watch movies online, chat, and joke around. It was fun, so word spread and more people asked to join. Anyway, we mostly watched old movies. One time, we were watching 12 Monkeys, and the next day we got called into HR because of an anonymous tip accusing us of racism, bigotry, transphobia, misogyny, and spreading hate. 😆

We explained the situation, and HR understood. This was outside of working hours, and no harm was done. Still, the people who reported us seemed to get even more upset. We just ignored them and kicked them out of the group.

What is it with some people trying to impose their opinions and way of life on others, then getting upset when you don’t follow them? We used a poll online to pick movies btw. I see some people joins this sub and they join just to act offended too.
