I'm by no means a classical composer, or classical musician, but I'm currently revising 'Wenlock Edge' by Vaughn Williams for my A level Music, and I feel like I can hear the music of Joe Hisaishi in a lot of the strings and chord choices of Vaughn Williams.
Am I tripping? Were they both influenced by French impressionists (Ravel etc), or has Joe Hisaishi ever cited Williams as an influence?
Thought it might be interesting if a composer with such strong roots in Eastern music in his instrumentation and other things was influenced by such a quintessentially European and English composer.
