Switching careers to corrections and worried it won’t be for me?

Basically I currently work for my public works, benefits pension etc. But for whatever reason being a deputy correction officer for the sheriff office intrigues me for a couple reasons. One I’ll be able to make six figures and it’s a higher paying scale then my current job and two I’ve always been interested in some sort of law enforcement. The problem is I do enjoy my job now and where I live is a small town with not a lot of options year round. I have this paranoia that if I take the jump to corrections I won’t like it and I won’t be able to go back to my old job because full time spots get filled with my current job pretty quick. Someone help me make a decision lol

Is the gun range hard if I never shot before?

One thing I’m worried about going into the academy is I hear people fail out because of the gun range. How hard is it if you never shot a gun before?

Should I become a corrections officer or continue to stay where I’m at (Public works)

I was thinking about changing careers to corrections due to more OT pay and the potential to make 100k+. Don’t get me wrong I like my job now, pension and health insurance but the most I’ll ever make is 80k. My job now is Monday - Friday (sometimes Sundays for OT) 7am - 2pm. Corrections would rotate days and nights, 12 hour shifts (sometimes 16.) anyone here have experience in either field?

Hey guys, just started investing in my Roth IRA at 27 years old, better late than never right? Haha, but yeah, simple question. I’m new to this stuff and I want to make sure this is a safe index fund to invest in until retirement

I got hired to be a CO for my local sherriff office, start June 8th the academy and I keep hearing mixed stories about the job. I heard from people who work there that it’s overall an easy job, then I also people in general say the job is draining and it could hurt your home life from all the stress. So I made this post to ask all of my COs out there, what is your life like outside the jail/prison. Are you stressed?

Hey guys I just got hired to be a CO, I go to the academy in June and for my people that do the Panama schedule (2 days on, 2 days off, and 3 days on, followed by 2 days off, 2 days on, and 3 days off every other weekend off) how is it? I’m not used to working 12 sometimes 16 hour shifts but this schedule seems nice on paper because of how many days off you get. Who else has this schedule?
