Season 6 needs higher ranking in the seasons to be honest

Lucas scouting for directors and casting gave us some classic scenes. Plus…

Nathan - playing in the g league and making the NBA.

Hayley - singing again

Layton - having a kid

Brulian - seeing their beginnings

There’s so much more.

Season 6 is severely underrated.

Season 1 is a masterpiece.

Is it the best?

No.

But as a huge OTH fan. Going through another rewatch, there's just something so nostalgic about it.

The score from Mark Snow.

The way it's shot, especially the first few episodes, it's like a movie. Gives fall vibes all the time. It's not the best music playlist, but some iconic song moments.

So many good character progressions too.

Nathan kinda grows up.

Lucas loses himself and tries to find himself.

Brooke's long journey begins.

Peyton learns to open up.

Deb realizes Dan is a super douche.

The love island rules have changed

The rules of the show have changed. It used to be whoever was the strongest couple and you saw going all the way outside the house. That’s who would win and get voted for. Now it’s basically who’s says the most “iconic” mean or “direct” things. Is a “queen” or baddie so they win along with the boring man they chose.

No chat at all.

No one has any chat. This season.

Apart from Ellie they all come across as performative, preachy and unoriginal.

Super vapid and boring one on ones.

The Americanization of UK love island

I remember the earlier seasons of LI. They were very British. The slang we used, the way they drunk and how we interacted.

Nowadays it just feels like pseudo therapy talk from contestants who consume too much TikTok and a bunch of American slang terms that to be honest sound weird coming from Brit’s.

For example

“Stand of business”

“Crash out”

To name a few. Or slang terms that Orginated from the street culture of the US. Hearing British people say it is kinda cringe.

Please no more girl code

Women in the show are not who they really want to be with because of girl code.

Why not just go for who you want?

It’s love island not “girl code” island. It’s okay if you strongly disagree with another woman and to be honest not like another woman.

It just comes across as very disingenuous. 🤷🏾‍♂️
