Will a marketing internship in 2027 lower the possibility of me getting a data internship in 2028?

Hi! I have recently been offered an internship position for the summer of 2027 in marketing with a construction company. I am studying information systems, but my freelance portfolio and skills granted me access to this position and I am most likely going to accept due to the value an internship can bring, especially in this job market. However, my goal is to work in IT or Data / business analytics in the future after I graduate. Will taking marketing roles now limit my value in the future?

Is it worth working for Best Buy?

For context, I have worked at target for 2 years and am studying Information Systems at my university (Cleveland State). I am extremely burnt out at this job and don’t feel recognized or respected anymore and need a major change of scenery/ work, preferably in the tech field to align with my career goals. I have applied to a couple geek squad positions, but I want to hear from actual employees whether I am getting myself into something I’m better off avoiding or not. Any tips, insights, or advice much appreciated.

What projects can I work on through the summer to help my resume going into my sophomore year?

Hi, I am an information systems student that is interested in data / business analytics as a potential future career path. I would like to get ahead of my peers quickly to gain an edge on getting internships and potentially future jobs, and one thing I want to at least do soon is work on my first actual analysis project.
I have had a few ideas of things I could do, but one idea I had was analyzing music royalty data (I am very heavily involved in underground music management at the moment) but I’m not entirely sure how well that would really look on my resume to industries outside of music. What would you guys here recommend? Any feedback / advice/ ideas are appreciated:)
