I'm trying to figure out what benefit there would be to having like a neck below the round part
I know I'm f-d but how bad?
2016 Rocky Instinct MSL (carbon). I cannot find the owners manual anywhere online to look for a part number.
Are rear assembly arms even a replaceable part?
Need help : Skew chisel slicing cut on end grain
I'm having trouble learning how to do a slicing cut on an end grain spindle. I understand the bevel angle piece, what I can't find is a picture or a video showing the tool rest height and the position of the long point of the skew (what part of the "clock" it should be out to start the cut). I understand lifting the handle and the arc motion you're supposed to do, but I just cannot get it to bite and cut and I'm wondering if it's the starting position with two rest height.
Is anyone aware of a video that shows it from the end on view? Or could someone who knows what they're doing Post a picture?
This is going to be an fing bank isn't it?
The old wahoos on Union. Been wondering what is goin to be. Looking an awful lot like a bank.
Confused by these jaws
This set came with my new to me lathe, and I am genuinely stumped trying to figure out their utility. Wouldn't you have to be super precise on the depth to not bottom out but then have a pretty long tenon to use any but the widest step? And if the widest step is the only usable one why not just use a single step set of jaws?

Is there a utility that I am missing?

reddit.comVase with a skew - is there a size limit?
Question for anyone proficient with a skew: is there a limit on the size of blank for a normal skew bevel?
I can bang out this shape with a skew from a 2x2 blank no problem from roughing to finish all with the skew. But when I try the same shape with a 4x4 blank I cannot find the right place for the tool rest to be cutting at 11 o clock and it feels like there is no margin between from bevel to catch with the heel. I feel like it has something to do with the bevel angle, like a less acute angle would have less tendency to catch on a larger diameter blank?
Or should I not be so set on cutting at 11?
I'm making a piece that part of the vase will stay flat, so I can't just turn away the wax.
Is there an easy way to get the wax off? I don't do flat work so I don't have a plane, melting it in the microwave or with a torch?
