A few 'Eyes to end the long weekend

Took the 'yak out to the Van Hook arm of Sakakawea and was finally able to get my limit on some 'eyes. I started out with a crank on one rod and a bottom bouncer on the other, not 10ft from the boat ramp I had a decent sized one hit the crank but lost it at the boat, went back over that same area a few times but couldn't connect and was fighting lines and wind so moved on with the plan to circle around an island and jigging for them when I found a school, but they had other plans.

I landed the 1st on on the worm rig, so I decided to run two, so while I was setting up the second bottom bouncer a 3rd fish hit the one still in the water, but it snapped the rig off so I finished rigging the second pole and just had it in the rod holder, not set to depth by any means and I re rigged the other one, by the time I got the 1st pole back in the water I had eye number 2 on the second rod and eye number 3 hit on the 1st rod while I was bringing number 2 in, once I got the second eye on the stringer I slapped a new worm on it and did the same thing, just kinda let it hang in the water while I delt with the 3rd eye. And same thing the 4th one took as I was landing the 3rd. Thats why you hear me give a big sigh as I honestly didn't think I would be able to land all of them. Then the last one I got was on the last worm in the box, a nice 17". Once I had my limit I tossed out the anchor to work on my jigging technique but I only had plastics and minnows and they definitely did not want any of that, though I did get a few small pike on the plastics.

All in all a great way to end the weekend. I eneded up with a 14, 15, 2 16s and a 17 for my efforts. Tight lines y'all.

A few 'Eyes to end the long weekend

Got them on bottom bouncers and worm rigs. Ended the day with 5, a 14, 15, two 16', and a 17. There was a point where they got hot and I was not ready. I landed one, re baited the line and set the rod in the holder with just the leader in the water while I checked the second rod, it had a fish so I started dragging that one in a 3rd fish hit my other rod even though it wasn't fully down. The second fish ended up snapping off the worm rig so im going to say it was a pike possibly. I even had a good eye hit the crank I started off with not 10 foot from the boat ramp but lost it at the yak since I didn't have the net ready. All in all a damed good day!

Gota a couple of eyes on the yak today

I took my new yak out today to the place that every one tells me is the hot spot, and not going to lie after well over a year chasing the damed fish I finally was able to get two while on my yak. Got the one in the Pic on a flicker minnow crank and the second on on a bottom bouncer and a worm. I tried to stay on the spot where I got them but when I pulled in the bouncer it got all sorts of tangled and I had to beach it to re rig. I also got a real nice pike but I think it blew up my reel so I called it quits. Tight lines yall!

Took the new Nessmuk out today and did pretty good, except the hatches leak.

So i just had to upgrade from the ozark trail angler 10 due to the skag cracking and try as I might every repair I made was just making it worse. So after searching around this is the one I settled on, its the Field and Stream Nessmuk 12ft and holy shit its vastly superior to what I used to have. It rides so much better in the water and even with my Garmin and arm transducer over the side it tracked soo much better. I was out for about 5 hours and it didn't kick my ass like my old one did.

It wasn't until I started back twords the boat ramp did I notice that it just felt funny, and it was taking more effort to move, so I thought it might be just because I was paddling into a stiff wind but when I pulled it out the hull was almost completely full of water. So I drained what I could to get it into the truck and once I got home I stuck the garden hose into the hatch and filled it up and the only place I got water to come out was at the area around where both the front and rear hatch edges meet the hull. The hatches are held in with cheap plastic rivets, so im going to try and get a nice bead of Lexel silicone around each of them. To be honest Im not really sure what the point of the hatches are. But all in all for the price I am very happy with it and look forward to a few more eyes in the boat.

Thinking of upgrading from a Striker 4 to a Garmin Side scan, advice?

So im currently rocking a garmin striker 4, and it works decently I guess for water temp and depth but I think it struggles to show fish, I feel i get alot of false images or i just suck at fishing, so I have been thinking of upgrading to a side scan but Im not sure what Garmin to go with, I know the striker series is the entry-level model and for now I think that would be fine for what im doing.

My questions are, how do they handle the rocking of the kayak? My Striker 4 does not handle rocking very well and tends to throw false images when im being rocked by waved.

Im in an ozark trail angler 10 yak if that makes any difference.

Thank you for any advice. I think there are some modles out there that can do mapping and shows contour lines wich would be nice but I can always use OnX for that if need be.
