We have been together for the past 10 months.
Our relationship has always had a lot of fights because he has a very short temper. When he gets angry, he shouts at me, says hurtful things, and sometimes reacts over very small issues. But at the same time, he genuinely loves me. He takes care of me, supports me, helped me find a job, and has always been there whenever I needed him. That’s one of the main reasons I’ve stayed with him.
For the last 3 months we’ve been in a long-distance relationship. Every month he travels around 200 km from his hometown just to spend time with me. This weekend we booked a hotel for 3 days because we wanted to enjoy our time together.
Yesterday we planned to go clubbing in the evening. Around 8 PM, we went to H&M so I could buy a dress. We picked one, and I went to the trial room. Before I went in, he told me to wait in the queue because he’d be back in a minute, then he stepped outside the store.
While trying on the dress, I sent him a picture on WhatsApp, and he replied that it looked good. So I came out, bought the dress, and walked outside. I called him to ask where he was, and suddenly he got angry. He said he’d been waiting outside the trial rooms and asked why I didn’t call him before buying the dress because he wanted us to come out together.
To me, it felt like such a small misunderstanding. I told him not to fight over something so minor.
We got into the car, and things were still tense. We stopped near Starbucks because I wanted to use the washroom. When I came back… he was gone.
I called him, and he said, “I’m done. We’re breaking up. I’m going back to the hotel, then to my hometown. Take your things and leave. I don’t want to be with someone like you.”
I was in a city that I’m not familiar with, around 10 PM, standing alone on the roadside crying for about 10 minutes. Eventually he came back, but he still wouldn’t even unlock the car door at first. He kept telling me to take my things and leave.
After another 10-15 minutes, he completely changed. He apologized, said he didn’t know why he got so angry over such a small thing, comforted me for around half an hour, and then we continued our night. We even went clubbing and ended up having a great time afterward.
Today everything is normal again.
But I can’t get yesterday out of my head. Leaving your partner alone in an unfamiliar city at night because of a small argument feels completely unacceptable to me.
