What if your school completely refuses to cooperate with you college applications!

I live in a very small town and have no access to college infrastructure. Yet I did some ec's but now at the time of applications my school said they can't help with anything I tried everything talking to Principal was impossible due to hierarchy. I even took my parents there but left with no outcome what should I do?

Was the deadliest aviation disaster inevitable? A look at the chain of failures behind Tenerife 1977

Tenerife 1977 remains one of the most studied aviation disasters in history — but a question that continues to interest me is whether it was inevitable or whether it was a tragedy created by a series of preventable failures.

I recently wrote an analysis exploring the chain of events behind the disaster, focusing on how communication breakdowns, human factors, decision-making, and system weaknesses combined to create a catastrophic outcome.

What makes aviation disasters fascinating is that they are rarely caused by one single mistake. They often reveal deeper issues in systems, procedures, and organisational culture.

I’d love to hear from people interested in aviation history and accident investigation:

- Do you think Tenerife was preventable?

- What lessons from the disaster do you think are still relevant today?

- Are there aspects of the accident that are often overlooked?

Would appreciate any feedback

International student from India seeking honest feedback on my profile for US admissions (Fall 2026)

Hi everyone!

I’m a Grade 12 student from a small town in India, studying Commerce with Applied Mathematics and Economics. I’m applying to US universities for Fall 2026 and would really appreciate an honest assessment of my profile, especially from people familiar with international admissions.

My academic interests lie at the intersection of public policy, gender, development, and social science research.

Academics

- CBSE Commerce student (Applied Mathematics + Economics)

- Class 10: 96.4%

- Class 11: 84%

Research & Academic Experiences

Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside some of India’s leading economists and political scientists, as well as a Harvard Fellow and a university Vice-Chancellor, on research spanning:

- Electoral politics

- Rural welfare access

- Employment policy and state budgets

- Caste and social justice

- Gender policy

I am a Lumiere Research Scholar and CAO 2026 Scholar. I am also currently working in a policy/research internship focusing on workplace gender policy and implementation.

Projects & Leadership

- Founder of— a youth-led gender sensitisation initiative focused on students in Grades 6–12. The project involves curriculum development, workshops, surveys, and a policy-focused component.

- Founder and Editor of an independent publication on aviation disasters, exploring investigations, causes, safety failures, and lessons from past incidents.

- Founder of Research Community — a student-led initiative aimed at making research exposure and mentorship more accessible for high school students.

Achievements

- Silver Award — The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition (2025)

- Writing published nationally

Coming from a small town, I didn’t initially know how research worked, how students found mentors, or how academic opportunities were accessed. I had to learn independently, and that experience shaped many of the initiatives I work on today.

I would really appreciate honest feedback:

  1. How competitive is this profile for highly selective US universities as an international applicant requiring significant financial aid?

  2. What are the biggest weaknesses in my profile?

  3. What should I prioritise in the remaining months before applications?

  4. Does my profile show a clear spike, or does it seem too broad?

I’m looking for realistic advice and constructive criticism rather than just encouragement. Thank you!
