AITAH for refusing to cover for my brother after he lied to our parents?

My brother asked me to cover for him because he had told our parents he was staying at home studying, but he actually went out with his friends.I initially agreed because I didn't want to get involved. Later that evening, my parents asked me directly where he had been. I told them the truth instead of lying for him My brother found out and got extremely angry. He said I betrayed him over something that wasn't even serious and that I should have just kept my mouth shut.I told him that if he wanted to make his own decisions, that's fine, but he shouldn't expect me to lie for him when I'm asked directly Now he says I'm the reason our parents don't trust him anymore.AITAH?

They thought I would always stay quiet. They were wrong.

Someone kept crossing small boundaries with me because I rarely confronted them One day, they crossed the line again. Instead of arguing, I calmly told them I wasn't going to keep doing favors for them anymore. They laughed at first and assumed I would change my mind like I always did.I didn't.A few days later, they needed my help with something and came to me like nothing had happened. I simply said, “Sorry, I can't help you this time.”They were furious. The funny part? I didn't insult them, threaten them, or do anything cruel. I just stopped giving them the treatment they had become entitled to.How was I traumatized? They repeatedly ignored my boundaries. How did I traumatize them back? I finally enforced them.

My friend kept embarrassing me in front of everyone, so I finally responded.

He was always making jokes at my expense whenever we were with friends. I usually ignored it, but one day I calmly said, “You seem to know a lot about me for someone who never asks how I’m doing.”Everyone went quiet. He changed the subject, and honestly, that was enough for me.

AITAH for telling my parents they can support my brother themselves after they gave him everything and left me with nothing?

I (30M) grew up as the "independent" child. My younger brother was always the favorite. My parents paid for his college, helped him buy his first car, and even covered the down payment on his house. Every time I asked for help, I was told that I needed to "figure it out myself" because it would build character So I did.I worked two jobs through college, rented tiny apartments, skipped vacations, and slowly built a stable life without asking anyone for money Now my brother has lost his job and can't afford his mortgage. My parents called me asking if I'd loan him $20,000 because they "can't watch him lose everything."I reminded them that when I struggled, they said helping me would stop me from learning responsibility. I told them they should stick to that same lesson now. They got angry and accused me of punishing my brother for their mistakes. My brother says I'm being cruel because I can afford to help and he's "family."Some relatives agree with me, saying my parents created this situation by treating us differently. Others think I should let go of the pastand help anyway.I don't hate my brother, but I also don't think it's my responsibility to fix the consequences of years of favoritism.
